Something to say about crying...

Lately, I was "torn apart." Duh! It has been such a long, long time...

I cheer myself up with these 3 wonderful err... chipmunks? Definitely not squirrels...

And, you know what? I never like Fergie's songs until recently. I heard this "Big Girls Don't Cry." Yeah... big girls DON'T cry. Hurt but DON'T cry, I warn myself. Remember, it's never meant to be this way... Haha... Laugh it off! Like what the song says, "I hope you know that this has nothing to do with you. It's personal, myself and I."

Yeah... It's personal, myself and I! I'm telling myself very seriously: Don't hope for miracles. Don't... The earlier the hope is dashed, the better my life will be...

Fine, let's hear what Fergie wanna tell us about her story...

Da Da Da Da
The smell of your skin lingers on me now
You're probably on your flight back to your home town
I need some shelter of my own protection baby
To be with myself and center, clarity
Peace, Serenity

[Chorus]:
I hope you know, I hope you know
That this has nothing to do with you
It's personal, myself and I
We've got some straightenin' out to do
And I'm gonna miss you like a child misses their blanket
But I've got to get a move on with my life
It's time to be a big girl now
And big girls don't cry
Don't cry
Don't cry
Don't cry

The path that I'm walking
I must go alone
I must take the baby steps 'til I'm full grown, full grown
Fairytales don't always have a happy ending, do they?
And I foresee the dark ahead if I stay

[Repeat chorus]
Like the little school mate in the school yard
We'll play jacks and uno cards
I'll be your best friend and you'll be mine Valentine
Yes you can hold my hand if you want to
'Cause I want to hold yours too
We'll be playmates and lovers and share our secret worlds
But it's time for me to go home
It's getting late, dark outside
I need to be with myself and center, clarity
Peace, Serenity

[Repeat chorus]

La Da Da Da Da Da

Lethal Combination...

Skeptical + Doubtful + Distrust = Lethal Combination.

Meaning?

That's the combo to protect myself from getting hurt by some insensitive idiots who think they are smart enough to pull my legs.

OK.

People say I'm narrow and way too emotional. Fine. I admit that. I'm narrow & sensitive. So what? I have my reasons to protect what I feel. It's the side effect of the "once bitten, twice shy syndrome." I hate it when I sense that people is trying to test me in order to know what's my standing. I'm NOT a lab rat.

Worse still, some can just talk their way out of situations. I really "admire" this kind of skill. Some people can just say anything and "package" them so damn nicely that you believe them. It's like the "buy 1, free 1 campaign." I don't think I misjudged in this case. In this society nowadays, sincerity is treated like dirt. Honesty is way down the ladder. All are politics, sweet talks, backstabbing, etc. Now, I understand what does it mean when people say that the tongue is the deadliest weapon of mankind.

Forgive, sounds good. Forget, I don't think I could. They say time heals everything... but I'm still waiting ~ Not Ready to Make Nice, Dixie Chicks.

Fine. Forget about it! I don't know how many times have I hurt myself subconsciously. I don't want to care too much either. It's never meant to be this way. It's never meant to be. One who builds castles in the air always end up doubling up in pain on the ground when it's time to come back to one's senses.

This is a cruel, cruel society. The survival of the fittest rules out all weaklings. The survivor survives all sorts of mistreatment. In the process, the survivor becomes less humane. Why? To survive and to maintain survival.

Crap? B***S***? That's for me to know and for you to find out.

The so-called "Lethal Combination" combo costs me of any relationship (not merely romantic). Never mind. It's better to be safe than be sorry. Whether you are a friend, a colleague, a co-worker, whatever... once I sense that you are trying to s*** on me, you better watcha way. I'm NOT a weakling.

My current mood: Combative

Memories from Russia... Living

Life is not as comfy as Malaysia, but it's definitely a different kind of look-and-feel.
0

Memories from Russia... Team

Teammates from various countries: Russia, US, Canada, Korea, Taiwan, Malaysia, Ukraine, etc. It was a wonderful experience!
0

Memories from Russia... Snow

Kinda feel like reminiscing the 3 weeks that I spent in Russia earlier this year. It was winter, my second winter. I experienced my first winter in Taiwan but it wasn't snowing although I did experience the urgency to keep my cheek and fingers warm from the "abusive", icy cold wind. Thailand was quite cooling when I visited Chiengmai, but that was not winter.

Winter in Russia was a total different story.

Winter in Russia was beautiful. I couldn't deny the harsh cold that gnawed my bones but the serenity, the tranquility was beyond words. The snow flakes were astonishingly beautiful as they landed gently and unknowingly on my winter coat. I was dumbfounded. I was speechless. The beauty of mother nature caught my breath.

Why Are You So Tired At The End Of Each Work Day?

This is hilarious! Got this from an email while I'm in the midsssssst of wooooorkkkkinggggg... Haha!

Have you wondered why office staff is alwayzzzz dead tired by the end of the day and companies really require no further physical fitness programmes for their employees?

The reason is that EVERYONE gets enough exercise by:

1. Jumping to conclusion

2. Beating around the bush

3. Running down the boss

4. Going around in circles

5. Dragging their feet

6. Passing the buck

7. Climbing the ladder

8. Wading through paperwork

9. Pulling strings

10. Throwing their weight around

11. Stretching the truth

12. Bending the rules

13. Pushing their luck

NO WONDER THEY ARE ALL TIRED AT THE END OF A WORKING DAY!!

Goat... goat...

See the description about the GOAT? Quite true wor... Somemore in that website, I found this Mantra for the Goat: Living is my form of art. By the way, what's mantra? (*scratch head*)

In the first screenshot - "The Goat... The Gentle Goat", I underlined those qualities that are reflected from my being (Haha... I believe the accuracy is at least 80%).

Then, the second screenshot showed what's the journey in the year of Pig. Wellllll..... I'm sceptical about it. Anyway, reading it won't hurt... ;-)

Quite fun hor... You can visit this site if you like: Chinese Sign Predictions

Secret...

Another song that I love to practice with my piano... Jay Chou's 不能說的秘密... Wow..

Oh my goodness! Nokia 8600 Luna...

Really... Oh my goodness! Look at this gorgeous mobile! I extracted parts of the following eye-popping and jaw-dropping article from mobile88.com. Oh, look at those gorgeous curves.... OMG!

"Building upon a tradition of crafting its most unique and prestigious phones from trend-setting materials like chrome, stainless steel and titanium, the new Nokia 8600 Luna is now available in the market!... The melding of nearly opaque smoked glass with unique, soft-touch stainless steel makes the Nokia 8600 Luna as enchanting to behold as it is a joy to touch. Adding to its mysterious allure, a gentle keypad illumination pulsates from beneath the glass case while the phone awaits a call... Much like the Nokia 8600 Luna that we named in her honour, Luna, the goddess of moonlight, was often represented by the Romans as a mysteriously captivating beauty encircled in a soft, yet radiant light... Nokia’s first use of a single micro-USB port not only allows for a streamlined design free of extraneous indentations, it allows owners to streamline common activities – like charging, audio and data connectivity – into a single connection. Quad-band GSM support also allows owners to easily stay connected while they are on the road, while the large, bright display is perfect for sharing images captured with the 2 megapixel camera. The new Nokia 8600 Luna is now available at authorized Nokia dealers nationwide at a recommended retail price of RM 2,999."

Err... A non-smartphone at almost RM3K? Hmmm...

You Raise Me Up

This is a very inspirational song from Josh Groban. Yeah, I know I keep on posting songs that are popular ages ago. But never mind. Memories are meant to be cherished, no matter how ancient they are.

This is You Raise Me Up. Feel like dedicating this song to one of those people out there who taught me "It's your life, anyway." Thanks!!

You Raise Me Up
When I am down and, oh my soul, so weary;
When troubles come and my heart burdened be;
Then, I am still and wait here in the silence,
Until you come and sit awhile with me.

You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains;
You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas;
I am strong, when I am on your shoulders;
You raise me up… To more than I can be.

You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains;
You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas;
I am strong, when I am on your shoulders;
You raise me up… To more than I can be.

There is no life – no life without its hunger;
Each restless heart beats so imperfectly;
But when you come and I am filled with wonder,
Sometimes, I think I glimpse eternity.

You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains;
You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas;
I am strong, when I am on your shoulders;
You raise me up… To more than I can be.

You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains;
You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas;
I am strong, when I am on your shoulders;
You raise me up… To more than I can be.

Lagenda

Here comes another niceeeeeee Malay song! Can you believe it? There are so many nice old songs out there. This one is "Lagenda", by Sheila Majid.

I attended primary & secondary school with Bahasa Malaysia as the medium. So, I love Bahasa Malaysia! In fact, I'm a BM-cum-English copywriter at the moment... Haha...

Ok, here comes Lagenda.

Lagenda

Sejuta bintang di angkasa
Sinarnya mempesona
Sebutir bintang di taman seni
Cahayanya berseri
Biar bertahun masa beredar
Satu wajah satu nama takkan pudar

Tetap jelas di ruang mata
Setiap gerak gaya
Bergetaran merdu sinar
Di persada budaya
Hingga kini menjadi sebutan
Tetap terpahat namamu di ingatan

Kaulah satu satunya
Di antara berjuta
Insan teristimewa
Patah tak tumbuh lagi
Hilang belum berganti
Kerana kau tersendiri
Kau kebanggaan kita
Kau budayawan bangsa
Engkau lagenda

Ooh.....

Kaulah satu satunya
Di antara berjuta
Insan teristimewa

Ooh.....

Patah tak tumbuh lagi
Hilang belum berganti
Kerana kau tersendiri
Kau kebanggaan kita
Kau budayawan bangsa

Ahhh.....

Kau lagenda
Lagenda.....

Ooh.....

Aku Cinta Padamu

Some Malay songs are just so pleasing to the ears, even if it was sung in 1998, almost 10 years ago! E.g. Siti Nurhaliza's "Aku Cinta Padamu". The title sounds kolot, yes, I admit that. Haha... Anyway, I still wanna put this up here. I could not forget its tune. This song is still one of my favourites whenever I practice my piano.

Aku Cinta Padamu

Andainya engkau ku miliki
Terdahulu sebelumnya
Andai ku curah rasa hati
Mungkin kini ku kan tenang di sampingmu
Belum puas ku menikmati
Kesan kasih sayang
Kau terpaksa pergi
Ingin ku terus dicintai
Walau bisikanmu azimat berduri

Bila cinta berbunga
Jadi airmata di jariku

Betapa ku cinta padamu
Katakanlah kau cinta padaku
Sematkanlah ku di hatimu
Walau di mana berada
Ingatku dalam doamu

Hiasilah hati
Dengan cinta suci
Selamanya
Oh.....

Ulang [Bila cinta berbunga.....]

Gemerlapan jiwa
Semikanlah cinta
Semoga kau dan aku
Akhirnya bersama
Aku kan menunggu
Walaupun seribu tahun lagi
Oh...

Ulang [Gemerlapan jiwa.....]
Ulang [Betapa ku cinta padamu.....]

Reposting: Is this really called life...?

Let's see... ~12 hours in the office + ~7 hours sleeping + ~5 hours working from home/surfing the Internet/other stuff. This is life?

Ermmm... That's fun though, when you minus all those so-called troubles, problems, etc. Life IS beautiful when we are optimistic. I remembered there was one incident in the book John (New Testament, Bible) whereby Jesus changed water into wine. This is very significant. Water typifies death in this case (in other cases, water actually typifies life). In the world, death is everywhere. Just look around and you will see & hear all sorts of nonsense. What does wine typify? Wine typifies life. Changing water into wine means changing death into life. This is very meaningful when I ponder & "masticate" this inspirational incident.

In fact, all dissatisfaction comes from ourselves. Stress comes from ourselves. Yes, it is important and excellent to set high requirements on ourselves to achieve a better work & management quality. This is my principle. However, I'm also balanced back a bit when I was reminded that everything in the world, without Jesus Christ, is vanity of vanities, is death, is nonsense.

It's useless to work & work, without knowing what I want. What do I want? In terms of society, I want to make sure that whatever I do will serve my clients, my superior, and my colleagues well. In terms of spiritual edification, I'm on the way of being balanced to realize that work without Jesus is meaningless. When one losses the focus of life, he's doomed. But through encouragement, one can climb back real fast & set his goal/aim straight again ;-)

Happy living!

Beagle Mania

One day, if I can get a dog, I'll get a Beagle. Definitely a Beagle.

The Beagle is a hardy, sturdy, squarely-built, small hound. They have a sleek, easy-care, short coat that comes in tri-color, black and tan, red and white, orange and white, or lemon and white. Their long, wide ears are pendant and their brown or hazel eyes have a trademark pleading expression.

Not all Beagles will howl, but most will bark when confronted with strange situations, and some will bay when they catch the scent of potential quarry.

The Beagle is a gentle, sweet, lively, and curious dog that loves everyone! A happy little tail-wagger! Sociable, brave and intelligent. Calm and loving. Excellent with children and generally good with other dogs, but should not be trusted with non-canine pets, unless they are socialized with cats and other household animals when they are young. However, they do not like to be left alone and can be prone to separation anxiety.

Beagles have minds of their own. They are determined and watchful and require patient, firm training. They are intelligent, but as a result of being bred for the long chase are single-minded and determined, thus making them hard to train. They are generally obedient but can be difficult to recall once they have picked up a scent and are easily distracted by smells around them.

They are not demanding with regard to exercise; their inbred stamina means they do not easily tire when exercised, but they also do not need to be worked to exhaustion before they will rest, though regular exercise helps ward off the weight gain to which the breed is prone.

I like the fact that they have a mind of their own... Just like me...

They are easily distracted when they catch on new scents... I can be fairly distracted when I catch new interests...

Prone to weight gain? Nah... Not me...

BEAGLE is the DOG!

Smartphones... anyone? (Part 2)

Smartphones are hardly below RM1000. Mostly are over RM1,500. Some are ridiculously priced at almost RM4K, e.g. Nokia E90 Communicator. N95 is almost RM3K. Nokia 6110 Navigator is not a bad choice either, under RM2K.

I spotted one affordable smartphone: HP iPAQ 512 Voice Messenger.(attached from HP website). Overview: The HP iPAQ Voice Messenger offers professionals a powerful, easy-to-use Smartphone that combines the mobility of a cell phone, the capability of a handheld organizer, contact of a push e-mail device, and the power of an office phone system (© 2007 Hewlett-Packard Development Company, L.P.). Launched this month. Below RM1K. Unbelievable? Yes, it looks small and ordinary with a numeric keypad. However, besides the usual multimedia functions, it has voice control function, built in handsfree, Windows Mobile 6.0 Standard OS, microSD card slot, GPRS/WAP/EDGE connectivity, Bluetooth, WiFi, and 1.3 megapixel camera. The best part is that its retail price is RM999! Cool!

Smartphones... anyone? (Part 1)

There are loads of smartphones in the market nowadays but most of them are still so pricey. Nevertheless, gone are the days when only tech geeks will splurge themselves with these "smart" gadgets. In fact, anyone can own a smartphone, as long as you have money and as long as you have made up up your mind to own one with the features & capabilities that suit you & your needs.

First of all, let's talk about smartphones' operating system (OS) because this determines how your smartphone will function. Currently, Symbian is the dominant OS. Some says choose Blackberry if receiving and pushing emails are your major concern. Don't forget there are Windows Mobile, Linux and Palm. If you choose a Symbian smartphone, look out for Nokia's 6110 Navigator, E-series, and N-series. Sony Ericsson tails with M600i, W950i, and P990i. If you choose Blackberry, look for this beauty: BlackBerry Curve 8830. ASUS smartphones run Windows Mobile OS; DOPOD smartphones run Windows Mobile & Microsoft Windows OS; same goes to O2 smartphones; HP smartphones run Microsoft Windows OS; most Motorola smartphones run Linux OS; PALM Treo, obviously, Palm OS.

Secondly, let's talk about its input method. Choose either one with QWERTY keyboard (mostly BlackBerry), stylus, traditional phone keypads or even touchscreens (e.g. HTC Touch).

Thirdly, let's discuss about it's presentation. Smartphones come in different brand, model, style, and look-n-feel. Choose one that suits your personality, one that you are comfortable with, and of course, one that you won't have to spend "years" trying to figure out how it works.

Finally, let's discuss about its features and capabilities. This is important. You don't want to spend too much on something that you don't really need. Think about what are the features or capabilities that you want your smartphone to have. Video performance? Digital camera? Battery life span? Connectivity?

To be continued...

This comforts me & makes me feel blessed!

Although things are not perfect
Because of trial or pain
Continue in thanksgiving
Do not begin to blame
Even when the times are hard
Fierce winds are bound to blow
God is forever able
Hold on to what you know
Imagine life without His love
Joy would cease to be
Keep thanking Him for all the things
Love imparts to thee
Move out of "Complaining Camp"
No weapon that is known
On earth can yield the power
Praise can do alone
Quit looking at the future
Redeem the time at hand
Start every day with worship
To "thank" is a command
Until we see Him coming
Victorious in the sky
We'll run the race with gratitude
Xalting God, the Most High
Yes, there are good times and there are bad times, but...
Zion awaits in glory... where none shall ever be sad! Too blessed to be stressed!

Think about this: The shortest distance between a problem and a solution is the distance between your knees and the floor. The one who kneels to the Lord can stand up to anything. Don't worry about what's ahead. Just go as far as you can go. From there, you can see further.

God Bless & Have a Nice Day!!

The Se7en Rules

Wake Up!!
Wake up and decide to have a good day...
"Today is the day the LORD has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it." ~ Psa. 118:24, NIV.

Dress Up!!
The best way to dress up is to put on a smile ~ the inexpensive way to improve your countenance.
"The LORD does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart." ~ 1 Sam. 16:7, NIV.

Shut Up!!
Say nice things and learn to listen. God gave us two ears and one mouth, so He must have meant for us to do twice as much listening as talking.
"He who guards his lips guards his life, but he who speaks rashly will come to ruin." ~ Prov. 13:3, NIV.

Stand Up!!
Stand up for what you believe in. Stand for something or you will fall for anything.
"Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of the believers." ~ Gal. 6:9-10, NIV.

Look Up!!
Look up to the Lord.
"I am able to do all things in HIM who empowers me." ~ Phil. 4:13, Recovery Version.

Reach Up!!
Reach up for something higher.
"Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge HIM, and HE will make your paths straight." ~ Prov. 3:5-6, NIV.

Lift Up !!
Lift up your prayers.
"In nothing be anxious; but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to GOD." ~ Phil. 4:6, Recovery Version.

Have a GOOD day ahead!!

3-Minute Management Course

Lesson 1
A man is getting into the shower just as his wife is finishing up her shower, when the doorbell rings. The wife quickly wraps herself in a towel and runs downstairs. When she opens the door, there stands Bob, the next-door neighbour. Before she says a word, Bob says, "I'll give you £800 to drop that towel." After thinking for a moment, the woman drops her towel and stands naked in front of Bob. After a few seconds, Bob hands her £800 and leaves. The woman wraps back up in the towel and goes back upstairs. When she gets to the bathroom, her husband asks, "Who was that?" "It was Bob the next door neighbour," she replies. "Great!" the husband says, "did he say anything about the £800 he owes me?"

Moral of the story: If you share critical information pertaining to credit and risk with your shareholders in time, you may be in a position to prevent avoidable exposure.

Lesson 2
A priest offered a nun a lift. She got in and crossed her legs, forcing her gown to reveal a leg. The priest nearly had an accident. After controlling the car, he stealthily slid his hand up her leg. The nun said, "Father, remember Psalm 129?" The priest removed his hand. But, changing gears, he let his hand slide up her leg again. The nun once again said, "Father, remember Psalm 129?" The priest apologised "Sorry sister, but the flesh is weak." Arriving at the convent, the nun went on her way. On his arrival at the church, the priest rushed to look up Psalm 129. It said, "Go forth and seek, further up, you will find glory."

Moral of the story: If you are not well informed in your job, you might miss a great opportunity.

**********
Lesson 3
A sales rep, an administration clerk, and the manager are walking to lunch when they find an antique oil lamp. They rub it and a Genie comes out. The Genie says, "I'll give each of you just one wish." "Me first! Me first!" says the admin clerk. "I want to be in the Bahamas, driving a speedboat, without a care in the world." Puff! She's gone. "Me next! Me next!" says the sales rep. "I want to be in Hawaii, relaxing on the beach with my personal masseuse, an endless supply of Pina Coladas and the love of my life." Puff! He's gone. "OK, you're up," the Genie says to the manager. The manager says, "I want those two back in the office after lunch."

Moral of the story: Always let your boss have the first say.

**********
Lesson 4
An eagle was sitting on a tree resting, doing nothing. A small rabbit saw the eagle and asked him, "Can I also sit like you and do nothing?" The eagle answered: "Sure, why not." So, the rabbit sat on the ground below the eagle and rested. All of a sudden, a fox appeared, jumped on the rabbit and ate it.

Moral of the story: To be sitting and doing nothing, you must be sitting very, very high up.

**********
Lesson 5
A turkey was chatting with a bull. "I would love to be able to get to the top of that tree," sighed the turkey, "but I haven't got the energy." "Well, why don't you nibble on some of my droppings?" replied the bull. They're packed with nutrients." The turkey pecked at a lump of dung, and found it actually gave him enough strength to reach the lowest branch of the tree. The next day, after eating some more dung, he reached the second branch. Finally after a fourth night, the turkey was proudly perched at the top of the tree. He was promptly spotted by a farmer, who shot him out of the tree.

Moral of the story: Bulls*** might get you to the top, but it won't keep you there.

**********
Lesson 6
A little bird was flying south for the winter. It was so cold the bird froze and fell to the ground into a large field. While he was lying there, a cow came by and dropped some dung on him. As the frozen bird lay there in the pile of cow dung, he began to realize how warm he was. The dung was actually thawing him out! He lay there all warm and happy, and soon began to sing for joy. A passing cat heard the bird singing and came to investigate. Following the sound, the cat discovered the bird under the pile of cow dung, and promptly dug him out and ate him.

Moral of the story:
(1) Not everyone who sh*ts on you is your enemy.
(2) Not everyone who gets you out of sh*t is your friend.
(3) And when you're in deep sh*t, it's best to keep your mouth shut!

Keep this handy...

TRUST

TRUST is a very important factor for all relationships. When trust is broken, it is the end of the relationship. Lack of trust leads to suspicion, suspicion generates anger, anger causes enmity and enmity may result in separation.

A telephone operator told me that one day she received a phone call. She answered, "Public Utilities Board." There was silence. She repeated, "PUB." There was still no answer. When she was going to cut off the line, she heard a lady's voice, "Oh, so this is PUB. Sorry, I got the number from my husband's pocket but I do not know whose number it is."

Without mutual trust, just imagine what will happen to the couple if the telephone operator answered with just "Hello" instead of "PUB".

**********

NO FINGERS POINTING

A man asked his father-in-law, "Many people praised you for a successful marriage. Could you please share with me your secret?" The father-in-law answered in a smile, "Never criticize your wife for her shortcomings or when she does something wrong. Always bear in mind that because of her shortcomings and weaknesses, she could not find a better husband than you."

We all look forward to being loved and respected. Many people are afraid of losing face. Generally, when a person makes a mistake, he would look around to find a scapegoat to point the finger at. This is the start of a war. We should always remember that when we point one finger at a person, the other four fingers are pointing at ourselves. If we forgive the others, others will ignore our mistake too.

**********

CREATING PERFECT RELATIONSHIPS

A person visited the government matchmaker for marriage and requested, "I am looking for a spouse. Please help me to find a suitable one." The officer said, "Your requirements, please." "Oh, good looking, polite, humorous, sporty, knowledgeable, good in singing and dancing. Willing to accompany me the whole day at home during my leisure hour, if I don't go out. Telling me interesting stories when I need companion for conversation and be silent when I want to rest." The officer listened carefully and replied, "I understand you need a television."

There is a saying that a perfect match can only be found between a blind wife and a deaf husband, because the blind wife cannot see the faults of the husband and the deaf husband cannot hear the nagging of the wife. Many couples are blind and deaf at the courting stage and dream of perpetual perfect relationship. Unfortunately, when the excitement of love wears off, they wake up and discover that marriage is not a bed of roses. The nightmare begins.

**********

NO OVERPOWERING

Many relationships fail because one party tries to overpower another, or demands too much. People in love tend to think that love will conquer all and their spouses will change the bad habits after marriage. Actually, this is not the case. There is a Chinese saying which carries the meaning that "It is easier to reshape a mountain or a river than a person's character." It is not easy to change. Thus, having high expectation on changing the spouse character will cause disappointment and unpleasantness. It would be less painful to change ourselves and lower our expectations.

**********

RIGHT SPEECH

There is a Chinese saying which carries the meaning that "A speech will either prosper or ruin a nation." Many relationships break off because of wrong speech. When a couple is too close with each other, we always forget mutual respect and courtesy. We may say anything without considering if it would hurt the other party.

A friend and her millionaire husband visited their construction site. A worker who wore a helmet saw her and shouted, "Hi, Emily! Remember me? We used to date in the secondary school." On the way home, her millionaire husband teased her, "Luckily you married me. Otherwise you will be the wife of a construction worker." She answered, "You should appreciate that you married me. Otherwise, he will be the millionaire and not you."

Frequently exchanging these remarks plants the seed for a bad relationship. It's like a broken egg - cannot be reversed.

PERSONAL PERCEPTION

Different people have different perception. One man's meat could be another man's poison. A couple bought a donkey from the market. On the way home, a boy commented, "Very stupid. Why neither of them ride on the donkey?" Upon hearing that, the husband let the wife ride on the donkey. He walked besides them. Later, an old man saw it and commented, "The husband is the head of family. How can the wife ride on the donkey while the husband is on foot?" Hearing this, the wife quickly got down and let the husband ride on the donkey. Further on the way home, they met an old lady. She commented, "How can the man ride on the donkey but let the wife walk. He is no gentleman." The husband thus quickly asked the wife to join him on the donkey. Then, they met a young man. He commented, "Poor donkey, how can you hold up the weight of two persons. They are cruel to you." Hearing that, the husband andwife immediately climbed down from the donkey and carried it on their shoulders. It seems to be the only choice left. Later, on a narrow bridge, the donkey was frightened and struggled. They lost their balance and fell into the river.

You can never have everyone praise you, nor will everyone condemn you. Never in the past, not at present, and never will be in the future. Thus, do not be too bothered by others words if our conscience is clear...

BE PATIENT

This is a true story which happened in the States. A man came out of his home to admire his new truck. To his puzzlement, his 3-year-old son was happily hammering dents into the shiny paint of the truck. The man ran to his son, knocked him away, hammered the little boy's hands into pulp as punishment. When the father calmed down, he rushed his son to the hospital. Although the doctor tried desperately to save the crushed bones, he finally had to amputate the fingers from both the boy's hands. When the boy woke up from the surgery and saw his bandaged stubs, he innocently said, "Daddy, I'm sorry about your truck." Then he asked, "but when are my fingers going to grow back?" The father went home & committed suicide.

Think about this story the next time someone steps on your feet or you wish to take revenge. Think first before you lose your patience with someone you love. Trucks can be repaired. Broken bones & hurt feelings often can't. Too often we fail to recognize the difference between the person and the performance. We forget that forgiveness is greater than revenge. People make mistakes. We are allowed to make mistakes. But the actions we take while in a rage will haunt us forever...

My Mobile History

Candy Bar? Clamshell? Slide? Swivel? Or Smartphones? Ooohhh... We are being spoilt by these ever-growing selection of mobile phones! I'm not a real gadget person. I have a Dell notebook, a HP Pocket PC, a NOKIA 6111, and a NOKIA 6020. That's about it.

My first mobile phone was a Siemens (I forgot its model but it's a candy bar). I bought it for myself when I was 22 and I registered for a 013-3XXXXXX postpaid line (until today I still don't understand why I chose TM at that time). This Siemens stayed with me for two months before I decided to "upgrade" to my dream brand: NOKIA. So, I bought a Nokia 3300, a candy bar hit six years ago. I got fed up with 013, terminated it and bought a 012-6XXXXXX prepaid simpack. Haha...

Out of a sudden, some stupid fellas robbed me off my dear Nokia and I suffered two agonizing months with an Alcatel... and another 012-2XXXXXX line, prepaid. Urgh... I never give up! I want a NOKIA! So, lady luck blessed me with another NOKIA, this time a NOKIA 3315 (still a candy bar). I bought it with my hard-earned money (still a campus student in my final years in University of Malaya, KL).

Then, DiGi is getting stronger with their ads and I made up my mind to switch from Maxis to DiGi. So, I bought a 016-3XXXXXX prepaid simpack. I have been a STRONG DiGi supporter ever since.

Ermmm... I can't live forever with a NOKIA 3315 when I want those cool polyphonic ringtones. So, I managed to upgrade to a NOKIA 3200 (still a candy bar). At this time, I switched my line from prepaid to postpaid. I couldn't retain the whole number but at least, 5 of the digits are still the same in terms of sequence.

Now and for the time being, I have a NOKIA 6111, a slide phone.

NOKIA 3200 is still with me, and I have another candy bar (NOKIA 6020, company phone, also 016-3XXXXXX). No more polytones for me. Now, I either fancy true tones or MP3 as my mobile ringtones.
But then... Sony Ericsson's Walkman phones, the W-series are tempting!

Or is NOKIA 6233 Music Edition good enough?

Or a NOKIA N73 (smartphone)? I'm not really into 3G yet.

And I have a Pocket PC (HP iPAQ 3715) already.

I use my mobile phone to make calls, receive calls, send SMS & MMS, listen to MP3 and FM radio, alarm clock, calendar, reminder. That's quite enough. So, why should I spend my money to upgrade anymore on mobile phones? Hmmmm.... after thinking twice, I think I'd keep my NOKIA 6111. It's still elegant and stylish. It still serves me well ;-)

I Asked...

Ironically inspirational...

I asked for strength and God gave me difficulties to make me strong.
I asked for wisdom and God gave me problems to solve.
I asked for prosperity and God gave me brawn and brain to work.
I asked for courage and God gave me danger to overcome.
I asked for love and God gave me troubled people to help.
I asked for favors and God gave me opportunities.
I received nothing I wanted; I received everything I needed.
My prayer has been answered.
Lesson to learn: PRAY...

Take It As It Is...

I'm reading this line: "...on Sunday, 9th September 2007, Time 19:19 sharp in the evening at J.W. Marriott Kuala Lumpur Hotel." Cool! It's from my colleague's wedding invitation card, a 3-layer CD-shaped card with an unconventional color combination: yellowish, orangish, and dark brown. Wow... She's a web designer, so she designs her own wedding invitation card. Not bad.

Last Thursday, she distributed the cards, nicely tucked inside red envelopes with hearts- and snowflake-like-shapes imprinted all over it. Uh-oh... another "red bomb." That's what came across my mind as I saw her coming over and placed the "bomb" on my table. Before I could respond, her graceful strides brought her back to her cubicle.

Hahaha...

Last year alone... let me count... 12 (that'd be six couples) of my friends got married. This year, I heard four more would end their single status soon. I haven't counted my colleagues yet. Four colleagues are getting married in September this year.

Lalala...

I wish them "Happily ever after!"

Me? Er... I don't know. In fact, I can't care too much. It's not my say. Marriage is one of those "I-can't-figure-it-out" thingy that I dreaded to think.

Deedaadee...

Wish me luck. No one knows when it's gonna happen, who's he gonna be, how he gonna meet me, and where I gonna know him.

Dang! Take it as it is...

Rat Race ~ Really?

At the moment, I'm facing my 6-month old Dell notebook, a sleek and handsome Inspiron 640 m. Obviously, I'm working on a big project for my client. Working from home on a sleepy Saturday afternoon! What a life! Never mind, I'm streaming cool music to drive away all drowsiness. My HP iPAQ 3715 is with me... and yeah... my faithful Nokia 6111 is still around.

Urgh! My company phone has SMSes coming in again! These event organizers are just so rambunctious! I'm literally forced to engage in an MSN-cum-SMS-cum-email marathon with one of my team members plus these three clients from 12 noon until the whole event is over. The event is supposed to end at 3:45pm but I received updated info that it's gonna be extended to 4pm. Oh well...

Upon graduating from the University of Malaya (presumably Malaysia's most prestigious university) in May 2003, I joined a Christian training, a full-time course for two full years. My perspective at that time was to serve the Lord Jesus Christ and His church full-time. So, I worked with the church where I grew up for almost two years. From May 2003 until January 2007, I visited various countries, e.g. Taiwan, Indonesia, Thailand, Singapore, Philippines, and Russia.

Then, two days after I came back from Russia, my father passed away. It was February 01, 2007. I was in Petaling Jaya. My father was in Bintulu. My siblings and I have bought air tickets to go home for Chinese New Year on February 14, 2007. We have not been meeting as a whole family for YEARS!!!! I was waiting for February 14. I was waiting. A phone call from Bintulu at 9am, February 01 shattered this dream....

March 01, 2007 ~ First day of working. To date, almost six months in the corporate world, the term "rat race" becomes menacingly real. A rat race is a term used for an endless, self-defeating or pointless pursuit. It conjures up the image of the futile efforts of a lab rat trying to escape whilst running around a maze or in a wheel. In an analogy to the modern city, many rats in a single maze run around making a lot of noise while bumping into each other, but ultimately achieve nothing (meaningful) either collectively or individually. A rat race is also a term often used to describe work, particularly excessive work. In general terms, if one works, one is in the rat race.

Hahaha.... Too bad. This is exactly what I want to DEFY! It's the mentality that kills the joy and passion of working. My principle is: Love your work, be passionate with your work, get along with your colleagues, and everything is OK! To climb higher comes next. Higher salary comes next. When the time comes, I'll go for those.

Your Major?

Found something really interesting and quite accurate as well! It's something called quiz, obviously... and I posted my results. It fits my current job & interests as well. Cool!

You scored as a English/Journalism/Comm

You should strongly consider majoring (or minoring) in Communication, English, Film, Journalism, Literature, or Writing. It is possible that the best major for you is your 2nd, 3rd, or even 5th listed category, so be sure to consider ALL majors in your OTHER high scoring categories (below). You may score high in a category you didnt think you would. It is possible that a great major for you is something you once dismissed as not for you.

The right major for you will be something 1) you love and enjoy and 2) are really great at it. Consider adding a minor or double majoring to make yourself standout and to combine your interests.

English/Journalism/Comm (94%)
Psychology/Sociology (75%)
HR/Business Management (69%)
French/Spanish/Other Language (69%)
History/Anthropology/Liberal Arts (63%)
Education/Counseling (56%)
Biology/Chemistry/Geology (56%)
Visual & Performing Arts (56%)
Accounting/Finance/Marketing (50%)
Religion/Theology (50%)
Political Science/Philosophy (50%)
Nursing/AthleticTraining/Health (31%)
Mathematics/Statistics (13%)
Physics/Engineering/Computer (6%)

Cool! But I wonder how did I end up having a BSc. Ed (Hon.) with a major in Biology & a minor in Chemistry when my strong point is actually Journalism? Well... At least now I'm a copywriter with an ad agency cum content provider for a telco.

Follow my heart...
