Susuk

Susuk is a Malaysian movie. Soraya (Diana Rafar) is a trainee nurse who is starting to feel dissatisfied with her life. A chance introduction to the world of glamour piques her earlier ambition to be a star. She doesn't succeed at first but she is told that the forbidden practice of "susuk" may help. Meanwhile, Suzana (Ida Nerina) is a prominent diva with an air of mystery. A practitioner of the black arts, especially the extreme "susuk keramat", she requires human lives for her exploits. We follow the eventful lives of these two women until we get to the secret of the dreaded charm. Even though the story may seem slightly complex, the full puzzle power of "Susuk" is clearly unleashed at the end of the story. It's a smart way to make a good movie!

More about the movie.

Let me link to one of Susuk's director, Amir Muhammad. Susuk has received a few nominations in Festival Filem Malaysia ke-21 (FFM21) and the results will be announced tonight (9 August 2008).

Berdebar-debar! I shall update again on that. :)

  1. Welcome :)

Susuk is the 2nd Malay horror film that I like. The 1st one would be Chermin (directed by Zarina Abdullah).
