White Combo Delight Meal @ Kenny Rogers ROASTERS & Rissotto Mare Alla Bella Italia @ Pizzeria Bella Italia

My good & balanced rules about dieting are as below:

1. Eat moderately, healthily, and happily.

2. Don't indulge, even if the food is good. "Listen" to your stomach.

3. Drink at least THREE liters of water daily. This helps to flush toxin from your body. Toxin plus fat cells equals cellulite and unsightly bulges, namely, spare tyre.

4. Eliminate carbs from dinner, especially after 7:30pm. Take moderate amount of carbs and protein for breakfast and lunch. Increase fiber consumption, if possible.

5. Avoid supper, at all cost. If there's really no choice, just call for a glass of iced water while your friends eat. Haha...

So, sometimes I'll end up at Kenny Rogers ROASTERS.

From KRR's promo leaflet:

Wonder how Balinese dishes taste like? Now at KRR, we offer succulent fish fillet baked till perfection with a special blend of Bumbu sauce with tinge of spiciness. This great flavor will make you completely addicted to it! This complete meals come with three side dishes of your choice.

White Combo Delight Meal consisting Kenny's Balinese Baked Fish, 1/4 rotisserie-roasted chicken, three side dishes and our famous Kenny's Home-made Muffin.

Okay, have a look. Here's 1/4 rotisserie-roasted chicken (I chose black pepper), three side dishes (macaroni & cheese, baked beans, and coleslaw), and Balinese Baked Fish (served on a separate plate). The fish fillet is soft and succulent, not bad.

White Combo Delight Meal
Price? RM28.90 (correct at time of posting). Remember to add 10% service charge & 5% government tax.

******************************

And today, I'm so happy with my lunch item at Pizzeria Bella Italia @ SS2 for its famous daily lunch promotion (main course's price remains plus free soup and drink).

Rissotto Mare Alla Bella Italia
RM22.80 (correct at time of posting). Seafood (mussel, clams, prawns) cooked with vegetables, tomatoes, and rice. YUMMY!

Knowing, the movie

RIDICULOUS!!!

If you are a Christian and if you're clear about what the Bible says concerning the end of times, DON'T watch Knowing. I mean it.

Let me explain point by point. What do you think of the following scenarios?

A mere human being, as a matter of fact, a child, could prophecy (in this case, based on 1 Cor. 12) and write down soon-to-happen events in chronological order.
This is twisting the truth.

Depicting angels as winged, translucent E.T.
Did the Bible say this? A big NO!

Interpreting biblical records (in this case, based on the book of Ezekiel in the Old Testament and Revelation in the New Testament) with the limited human mind.
This is in the fallen nature of mankind. Remember how did Satan trick Eve? Satan asked her, "Did God really say...?" When one begins to doubt God's word, Satan's evil thoughts will come in.

Heavenlies is actually a paradise somewhere in the vast universe and you could actually see the "tree of life" in that so-called "paradise".
Only the Son, Jesus Christ knows where the Father is. In fact, read up John 14 to know where the Father is.

Chosen human beings (sort of like Adam & Eve) are "sent" to the so-called "paradise" with gigantic crystalline spacecrafts.
This is so ridiculous! Did the Bible say so? If not, why did you interpret it in such a silly way?

One should never mix God's word with human interpretation, especially sci-fi. It's call adulterating the Word of God

This movie provokes me negatively. I don't like it at all. I rated it as 0 out of 5 for its storyline.

Found an article from a fellow Christian who favors the movie. :S

Oh my...

The Others (2001); Dark Water (2005); Wind Chill (2007)

The Others (2001), starring Nicole Kidman is a very good psychological horror movie with an impressive ending twist.

In my point of view, horror movies that focus primarily on eeriness, uneasiness, and profound fear will fare much better than those that toy around with blood, gore, and physical pain. Different genre, I guess. But gore and horrible violence are never my cup of tea.

The best part of this movie, or rather its strength, lies in its ending whereby we'll be amazed at how we've been tricked into believing the whole story in the other way round. Wow. That's really neat. You should watch and feel those goosebumps crawling their way to the surface of your neck. :)

Wind Chill (2007), starring Emily Blunt is a rather slow-paced psychological horror movie with minimal paranormal elements.

Almost every scene in this movie was shot in a car that was stuck in the thickening snow on that fateful Christmas eve. Of course, there were times whereby the lead male and female protagonists went outside the car and got attacked by..... okay, by ghosts in flesh and blood. :S

Well, not a bad movie to kill time though. LOL. You know what I mean, I hope.

Dark Water (2005), starring Jennifer Connelly and cute Perla Haney-Jardine is a remake of the 2002 Japanese psychological horror movie of the same name. And yes, Dark Water is very dark, both the Japanese and American version.

If you've watched the Japanese version, you won't be disappointed with this remake. This can be considered as one of the successful remakes.

As I've mentioned earlier on, good psychological movies will give you ample doses of darkness, eeriness, and fear till you couldn't sit still. And that's what Dark Water is also capable of.

In fact, any horror movie with ghost kids will scare the s*** out of you, especially if they mean harm. :S

Let's talk about vanity ;)

Warning: If you loathe vanity, you're advised to read the following post at your own risk. Haha!

Early this morning (I think that was like more than 6 hours ago), I was in the midst of twittering with a fellow Twit-(tie?) and feeling very proud with a certain point of my
opinion, I decided to copy pasta (meaning copy & paste, LOL!) the whole conversation here. Nahhh... thumbs up for vanity! ;)

Note: Click on the following image to view it in its larger version (if needed) and read from bottom to top.

Okay, the most important point is here:
Some ego is healthy, if for nothing else but to keep us on the right path and not to be conned/misled.

Great! Naoko (geminianeyes) has something to share as well.

Knowing that only a fraction of today's community values purity and self-discipline, I was adamant not to practice what the world practices in its utter, disgustingly fallen state. Although I'll feel out of place and people "advised" me to discard my conservative view, I just can't bring myself to do it.

I think my ego and pride help me all along. Or better still, I believe the Lord is preserving me from being contaminated by the world. Call me old-school, out-dated, whatever you want, I'm proud of my saint-like personality.

That's why my favorite flower is white lily, the symbol of purity and innocence.

Ah well... Still, every cloud has a silver lining, and that's me, and I'm still proud of being me.

Simple lunch on a Sunday

Here's another kind of noodles that I love very much as weekend lunch, apart from Kueh Chap. To get hold of this delicious bowl of noodles, I just need to take a 5-minute walk to a Chinese restaurant at Taman Mayang, in fact, it's nearby Plaza Mayang. That restaurant is called Restoran Man Lane, if I'm not mistaken.

Note: Since this is a non-halal dish, I don't think it's a good idea to elaborate in detail.

I'm a regular customer of this particular hawker stall. So, the girl who attended the stall will give me ample amount of meat & vegetables, much to my delight. :)

Updated: Music Fights© :: DiGi Music vs Maxis Music Fest

As one of millions of music lovers and having compared DiGi Music, which is not tied to DiGi Broadband (ewwww... till today I still can't accept the shell-less tortoise broadband ad) with Maxis Music Fest powered by Maxis Broadband, I've to say KUDOS to Maxis! I love their concept. For once, I sense DiGi terkapai-kapai as it tries its best to get a stronger footing in the industry. Here's DiGi Music's front page.

Okay, so we can see two prominent highlights: Kelly Clarkson Flyaway Contest to Barbados and Meet David Archuleta Live in KL. To win Kelly Clarkson's contest, you need to be the TOP DOWNLOADER of Kelly Clarkson's mobile contents at DiGi Music from 2 till 28 March 2009 (that's today). To win FREE passes to meet David Archuleta, you need to be the first 750 to download his promotional bundle from 19 March till 3 April 2009. :S Downloading charged content without guarantee of winning anything? This doesn't appeal to the more matured group of users, honestly speaking, at least to me. Furthermore, this tactic has been used for so long.....

Here's DiGi Broadband's shell-less tortoise giant highway billboard ad, which I captured when I was on the way to MidValley. The idea is good, a tortoise is forever slow because it carries a big shell on its back. Once the shell is off, it can speed up! :S May be I need time to adjust my concept about the whole idea. To me, the first thing I thought of was animal abuse. Haha...

Here are the pretty Maxis USB Modems from Maxis Broadband, Maxis Music Fest powered by Maxis Broadband, and Nuffnang Music Bash 2009.

Click on the image below to view its larger version.

My point is, Maxis has scored brownie points among music lovers by going ahead with such cool concept of tying broadband with music plus Malaysia's prominent bloggers' community in blogosphere.

Almost everybody go online nowadays to download heaps of pirated contents (although I still don't understand how & where to search for them) without the need to pay a single cent for those content. With broadband, download rates are speedier and access to these download sites are getting faster and easier as well. How many will still pay for charged content from telco?

Furthermore, don't overlook the blogosphere. Bloggers, especially the prominent ones may not yet be celebrated as celebrities but their influence in blogosphere should not be underrated. They play quite a role in social media marketing.

In the end of the day, it's still a matter of marketing approach and strategy. The fight shall roll on.

Update about the party here. So, who's getting the fame? Maxis or Nuffnang? Here's Nuffnang's version.

[Friday-9] The Unborn

Evil will do anything to live.
Jumby wants to be born now.

I've listed The Unborn as one of the "Must Watch!!!" Movie List for March-April 2009. So, here's my verdict.

First of all, it's another typical horror flick whereby you could expect sudden appearances of shocking specters around the corner or right by your side. Not as good as I expected though. For those who seldom watch horror movies, you might not get horror overdose by watching this movie. So, it ain't scary in my point of view.

Secondly, it's produced by Michael Bay. Ohhh, may be that's the reason why the lead actress of The Unborn, Odette Yustman has an uncanny resemblance of Transformers' Megan Fox. :S

Oh yeah, can you see the resemblance? But Odette Yustman is taller and not as seductive as Megan Fox. Haha...

Thirdly, okay, let's not talk about acting, let's talk about the essence of the movie. It's all about Dybbuk, a kind of evil supernatural being, a famous spirit in the Jewish folklore. So, if you like the idea of demon possession and exorcism, you may watch this movie. For me, it's just another typical horror flick.

[Friday-9] Little Taiwan @ MidValley

Little Taiwan is easily spotted if you are an avid visitor of MidValley's Golden Screen Cinemas. :P

Located on the same row as McD, this quaint little shop is always packed with people, mostly cinema goers, I guess. So, as usual, on a Friday, my sister and I have the excuse to spend some money on good food again before we watch The Unborn. :)

Braised Beef Hor Fun in Claypot
Priced at more than RM10 per claypot, I found this dish extremely filling if eaten on your own. It's slightly spicy and oily but the braised beef chunks were tender and delicious!

Prawn Roll
Not much to comment on this, I think I could buy the frozen version and prepare the same thing. Well, it's just finger food anyway.

Updated: Mood Rating System

The Mood Rating System goes like this: {integer} (out of 10).
The rule is: "the smaller the digit, the nastier I'll be".

Like it?

Today, here's mine.

Mood Rating: 5 (out of 10)

I seldom have lunch at my table (workplace) and will always make it a point to LEAVE the building for at least an hour to maintain a clear mind and a nice mood. :P

Today, it doesn't work. I have to eat like this due to some unforeseen circumstances. True enough, I'm quite nasty after that. LOL.

Great minds think alike!

Okay, I'm really, seriously, verily busy. But I'm lovin' every bit of it because sometimes, there are moments that cracked me up!

I was in the midst of an on-ground testing session, which was held concurrently (with a few clients) and "remotely" (with a client who was on MC at home), when this little conversation via MSN sent me into fits of laughter.

Client (the one on MC): Bla... bla... bla... (as in giving her comments on the testing, not chatting)
Me: Yeap, I get you what you mean.
Client: Aha! Smart!
Me: Am catching up with your style, so can get what you want faster. Hehe...
Client: HAHAHAHA! I like you. Great minds think alike ;)

ROTFL!!!

This is the best part of being involved in any project. Brainstorming for ideas, understanding requirements, taichi-ing requests (if needed), giving advices, solutions, suggestions, etc, and most importantly, being aligned as much and as fast as possible with what the clients have in their mind.

I love it when I know the clients understand that we understand them and that we understand that they understand us. Great minds think alike! Deep huh? No lah. Those who are in the game know what I'm saying. I've much more to learn from my seniors. ;)

Gambateh!!!

IKEA & Secret Recipe's Pocket Savers

That's a good motto to stay happy. Most people will have the same mentality. Spend less in all other things but never, ever on food, the most basic element to sustain our life, apart from water of course.

IKEA has good food too. Surprisingly, its website doesn't display anything about their restaurant at all. :S

Anyway, I went there for dinner with Naoko and her one and only younger brother, Philip. I chose Chicken with Swedish Sauce. Great! I found out what's Swedish Sauce here. Naoko chose her favorite IKEA signature dish - Swedish Meatballs. I've never tried meatballs smeared with berry jam but hey, not bad! Philip chose Daim Cake as his dessert. A tad too sweet for me.

Also, check out Secret Recipe's Pocket Savers!

Food is always good!

New Mobile Phone Hunt™

Scenario: I'm hunting for a new mobile phone to replace my current personal phone, a Nokia 6111, which serves me well with its basic functions of making/receiving calls and sending SMS/MMS, but that's it. Duh. :S

Questions:
1. What do I need the new mobile phone for?
2. What are the main functions that I want?
3. Do I have particular requirements about the phone's design and user-friendliness?

Answers:
1. I'm taking for granted that every mobile phone, regardless of being a low-end or a high-end phone is equipped with all the basic and necessary functions. So, my only extra requirement is I want to be able to
access my blog plus community sites via mobile conveniently. That's it. No extra surfing time, no downloading. To surf the Internet, I'll still rely on my laptop. I don't download stuffs, so no problem.

2. First, QWERTY keyboard is preferred because I want to blog via mobile. Second, camera, not less than 2.0MP. Third, not more than RM1K, hopefully.

3. Well, I want something that
projects feminity, whether mine or the phone's when I'm holding it. LOL! User-friendliness is a MUST! I don't want to spend a few hours trying to figure out how to off the damn thing. Also, I don't want a phone with an unstable OS.

Preliminary Results:
E63

I found an article that highlights the comparison between E71 and E63. The main difference: PRICE. According to Mobile88, currrent reference price for E71 is RM1,250-1,280 / RM1,245-1,275 (AP). Current reference price for E63 is RM920-950 / RM830-845 (AP). Sure borr?

Check out why I choose E71.

Impromptu dinner @ Pasta Zanmai

Nowadays, I like impromptu-ness. Haha. I know that word doesn't exist. But then, it's impromptu-ness that makes the day. ;)

So, impromptu-ness brought us (Windy, me, Chris) to Pasta Zanmai. This time, I ain't taking the squid ink pasta.

Click to view the larger picture.

You won't be disappointed with the food's quality and quantity.

P/S: I'm kinda tired after attending an off-site meeting one whole day today. So, can't say much about the food. And, I got tired spending time cropping the food photos. :S

Kissaten @ Jaya One & Wong Kok @ SS2

Verdict: Just came back from the hair saloon. Got myself highlights for my curls. :)
My sister: Let me sleep first. Later, let's eat Maggi Mee Ayam.
Me: Okay.

10 minutes later, the N70 rang. It's almost 7pm. Who could that be? My hand reached for the phone, fearing the worst. Ei? Windy?

So, Windy, me, my sister, and Huai Bin went to Kissaten @ Jaya One for dinner.

This is one of Kissaten's signature pizzas, I can't recall its exact name. It sounds like Char Siew Pizza. Char Siew is the Mandarin term for Chinese-style roast pork. Melted cheese is drizzled crisscross over the meat and a generous amount of fresh spring onions are sprinkled, thus giving this Western-based dish, a delightful Oriental twist. Eight slices per pizza, regular size. Superb! Great for sharing too.

One thing to highlight about Kissaten. You can be assured that you'll be served with food as per what you see on their menu. Example, look at their Salmon Steak. Agree? Salmon has and will always be my sister's and my favorite fish, apart from the insanely expensive cod fish.

*drooling*

Ahhh... I love this! Ginger Honey Beer. Non-alcoholic. I love ginger and honey. I heard that we can get this at Giant. Oooohhh!

Around 9:30pm, some of my church friends called me for supper. LOL! I don't expect that. So, six of us (after coaxing my sister to follow me) went to Wong Kok @ SS2.

I was so full from Kissaten that I couldn't afford to stuff myself with anymore food. The girls opted for some funny colorful drinks - Flamingo (I think it's Roselle juice) and Gentlemen (okay, this is a bit tricky. What you can see are layers of condensed milk, taufufar, custard, cincau, and strawberry-flavored ice). Rainbow!

Also, Fried Chee Cheong Fun with Eggs garnished with too much Chinese Parsley! Ewww... And those little white wantan look-alikes are called Spicy Fish Wantan.

It has been a very fulfilling Sunday.

;)

How do you value friendship?

How do you value friendship?
What do you want to gain from friendship?
Who are your friends?
Do you dare to say that you have friends?

I'm so surprised with what I've encountered and gone through at this point of time. I guess, I've been too naive and misinterpreted the meaning of friendship in this unscrupulous and unjust world. As a matter of fact, I've so much to write but I can't elaborate in detail, in case I spill too much beans and what I've worked so hard will vanish into thin air, without a trace.

Just a word of caution. Never ever care about those who are complicated or those who complicate themselves, especially the practitioners of 'double-standard' as the means of survival in this world of utter hypocrisy, and yet, proud of that attitude of theirs! Wow, I "salute" them. And, it's always good not to reveal too much. Spill a little, then keep the most of it. That's the beauty of "keeping" secrets. Here's a little summary of heart-to heart exchange in my Twitter.

joycescapade: I know I'm stubborn and people dislike me for being so unfriendly and not sporty. Okay, only true friends will accept me. Today, I learned that there's no need to care about those who don't care about me. I learned that there's no true friendship between work-related individuals. It's all about mutual interests.

mydewji13: welcome to the real world...it kinda sucks

joycescapade: yeah, now I'm in the real sucking world. I shouldn't have cared too much.

geminianeyes: I'm sorry if I'm one of those who made you feel that way.

joycescapade: Nope, not you. Definitely not you. I'm serious. Am in the midst of blogging about it. LOL. Don't worry. It's definitely not u. Sth else happened.

geminianeyes: *huggles* Nice to know that. :)

joycescapade: Now I know whom I should & shouldn't befriend. I believe u r one of those who value the good things in life.

geminianeyes: thank you for the compliment. :)

Let me teach you people to how to understand Gemini girls because THEY'RE MISUNDERSTOOD MOST OF THE TIME.

Both myself and geminianeyes are Geminis. Ponder upon these general principles.

1. She'll not sit or stand still for long, able to do many things at the same time and do them fast. You've to be able to adjust yourself to get along with her many different characters.

2. She's a dreamer and eager to learn new things all the time. Even if she likes you and wonder about your wit, she'll also see and inspect your bad sides at the same time, this is in her nature.

3. She's able to keep all kinds of mixed emotions without annoying you or letting you know at all. She can cheer you up by acting like a free little bird, her conversation will not bore you. She's able to talk anything with you. She can make you feel as if you're the luckiest man alive. She can make you feel as if she needs all your care, but once she needs to stand alone, she can stand alone firmly and comfortably.

4. She can be your best buddy and talk to you about anything. She can join all your activities with the same energy that you've. She's quick-witted and learn new things very fast. She can give good advices. She expects a lot and nearly too much.

5. If she wants to tell you any bad comment, she won't say it straight away, but she'll talk to you about many other things and accidentally come to that subject without offending you. Normally, she'll not lie.

6. She works hard and takes long rest only once in a while. She's never contented with her current work, money, or reputation, she will drive to have more. Don't ask her what is her ultimate contentment for she'll not have an answer. Once you get to know her, she'll be a supportive person and will always be by your side.

The International

They control your money. They control your government. They control your life. And everybody pays.

That's what The International, the movie is all about.

Let me give you 5 reasons why you should watch this movie. Of course, they'd be based solely on my opinion. I rarely read what the film critics say. There are no absolute opinions. Relativity calls the shot.

First, it's rated as 18SG. Well, honestly speaking, it's obviously overrated by the Malaysian cinemas. The Dark Knight has far more 18SG elements. Duh! I think, there's only one scene which was..... alright, 18SG (I'm forcing myself to admit it's 18SG anyway). That's the awesome gunfight in the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New York. Wow. Real bullet holes lining up the walls like playing Tic-Tac-Too, shattered glass panes, close-up shots of blood oozing from gun wounds. Fantastic!

This is the museum where the gunfight scene was shot.

Second, Clive Owen as Interpol Agent Louis Salinger. He's British, he's tall, and he's macho! I'm going gaga..... ;P Hey, he could be the next James Bond if given the chance. I think Clive Owen can do better than errr..... Daniel Craig. I rather watch Nicholas Cage (Bangkok Dangerous) or Robert Downey Jr. (Ironman) as James Bond. I don't undermine Daniel Craig but I think he doesn't have that macho look, same goes to Tom Cruise (Valkyrie), Brad Pitt (Mr. & Mrs. Smith), Matt Damon (The Departed), Hayden Christensen (Jumper), and Christian Bale (The Dark Knight).

Photos from Clive Owen, IMDb.

Third, world's five great nations were involved, either directly as shooting location or indirectly as part of the script. United Kingdom, United States, France, Russia, China. Other countries such as Italy, Germany, Turkey, Israel, Syria, Iran, and the Third World countries as a whole were mentioned as well. Haha... that's why it's aptly named as The International.

Fourth, this movie sheds some light on certain principles that may become handy.
* One will meet his destiny on the road he chose to avoid.
* The hardest point in life is when you need to determine which bridge to be burned.
* If you choose to take matters into your own hand, there will be collateral damages.

Fifth, the ending of a movie determines how good the movie is at the end of the day. Some movie has great beginning but wtf kind of ending. Okay, for The International, during the credits, despite the bad CEO's death, the bad bank continued its illegal activities..... SUCCESSFULLY. That's the main point. The evil cycle is never meant to be broken. It can't. There's no justice in this world. When it touches mutual interests, values and principles are zero.

Okay, that's it. Watch or not, it's your choice. It's 118 minutes only, by the way.

Memoirs of A Saturday :: Lenka - Trouble Is A Friend

I fell in love with this song from Lenka, my song for this Saturday.

Memoirs of A Saturday :: Food

I've prepped myself up for extremely busy working weeks ahead till Q1 (January - March) ends. My Q2, starting in April will be pretty hectic as well, hopefully not much hiccups and that everything will roll out as planned.

Therefore, 21 March 2009 has been a very significant Saturday, sort of like the last Saturday of March that I could spend without being swamped with work. Don't get me wrong. I LOVE my job. But then, since I can't really handle stress very well, I need to pace myself by taking short breaks on and off, or else I'll be snappy, crappy and bitchy. :S

Okay, let's start with FOOD!!

Okay, it's about Sarawak Kueh Chap, again. Haha... Here's something from my second visit to the same stall at Kelana Jaya for lunch. I brought my sister along as she's also craving for it after learning about my "gastronomical affair" with Kueh Chap in Klang Valley. LOL!

See this little plate of chili paste? It goes amazingly well with the noodles! Tangy and spicy, my taste buds were tantalized to yearn for more! The stall owner assured me that this superb chili paste is not found in the market; it's homemade. I believe him. :)

This time round, I "examined" every type of pork that I could find floating in my bowl - lean pork, fatty pork with its skin still intact, stomach, intestines, ears, and tongue slices; plus dried tauhu, a quarter of hard-boiled egg, and of course, the flimsy rice noodles.

Feeling satisfied after lunch, I managed to chat with the stall owner. My gut feelings said that he's in his mid-thirties. He's a Sarawakian, from Kuching. At the moment, he's selling Sarawak Kueh Chap and Hakka Mee at this stall that he operates at Kelana Jaya. Both, I mean the noodles, are priced at RM4.50 per bowl. Add-ons shall be charged accordingly.

So, I was informed that there are another two stalls that also sell Kueh Chap plus Kolok Mee. OMG! Really? Let me jot this down before I forget. One of these stalls is located at Sunway Mas and another one at Kota Damansara. I can't provide the exact info at the moment. I shall blog about them when I've located these stores (no need GPS, I know how to get to these places rather well) and tried their food. Hehe...

Oh no!!! Updates on 24/4/09: Got to know that business wasn't so good at Kelana Jaya. This stall has been relocated to somewhere I don't know. I guess all Kueh Chap fans have to try the other two stalls at Kota Damansara and Sunway Mas.

Now, what's for dinner? So, my sister and I went to Pasta Zanmai, a place where I yearn to go for decades!

Okay, what you can see here are: Ika Sumi set (Pasta Zanmai's infamous Squid Ink Pasta that smears your teeth and lips black like any of Addams Family's characters) with salad and miso soup; Shishamo (two pieces of giant boneless anchovies stuffed with roe); and Macha Crepe (a layer of crepe "supporting" a blob of green tea ice-cream, red bean paste, cream, and an assortment of fruits in cubes).

So, that's about it for FOOD on a Saturday.

;)

[Friday-8] Slumdog Millionaire

Okay, I know it's kinda late to talk about Slumdog Millionaire, you know, the winner of Best Motion Picture of The Year @ The Oscars. I guess everybody has watched it and I heard fantastic comments from friends over and over again that this movie was REALLY GOOD! Well, I've been procrastinating. It's either watch or don't watch. And so, I watched! Yay!

Actually, I should be watching Jin Hutan. However, my sister insisted that we must watch Slumdog this week before it was retired from being shown in cinemas from next week onwards. So, although the tickets were bought, I went into the cinema with mixed feelings and speculations and without expectations.

The opening scene erased all my doubts. I was captured by this: "Jamal Malik is one question away from winning 20 million rupees. How did he do it? A) He cheated, B) He's lucky, C) He's a genius, D) It is written." And the movie rolled on!

Seriously speaking, the element that kept my attention the most throughout the entire movie was neither the 18-year old Dev Patel (born in 1990) nor the 24-year old Freida Pinto (born in 1984). It was the impressive acting from the child actors, especially the boys! They appeared up to one-third of the entire movie being themselves, as some of them were slum kids in real life. Awesome!

There were no subtitles provided for conversations spoken in English. Only the Hindi conversations were translated as burnt-in subtitles throughout the entire movie.

Jamal and Latika were finally together despite hiccups that forced them to be apart throughout their childhood and teen years. Latika said, it's destiny. In fact, at the end of the movie, the answer was given to the question in the opening scene. D. It is written, thus implying destiny. I was so mesmerized. Glad that I watched it.

Brilliant production.

There are more movies that I couldn't afford to miss!

Song of the Week: Poker Face

This is my song of the week!!!

Lady Gaga's Poker Face

I wanna hold em' like they do in Texas Plays
Fold em' let em' hit me raise it baby stay with me (I love it)
Luck and intuition play the cards with Spades to start
And after he's been hooked I'll play the one that's on his heart

Oh, oh, oh, oh, ohhhh, ohh-oh-e-ohh-oh-oh
I'll get him hot, show him what I've got
Oh, oh, oh, oh, ohhhh, ohh-oh-e-ohh-oh-oh,
I'll get him hot, show him what I've got

Can't read my,
Can't read my
No he can't read my poker face
(She's got to love nobody)
Can't read my
Can't read my
No he can't read my poker face
(She's got to love nobody)

P-p-p-poker face, p-p-poker face
(Mum mum mum mah)
P-p-p-poker face, p-p-poker face
(Mum mum mum mah)

I wanna roll with him a hard pair we will be
A little gambling is fun when you're with me I love it
Russian Roulette is not the same without a gun
And baby when it's love if it's not rough it isn't fun, fun

Oh, oh, oh, oh, ohhhh, ohh-oh-e-ohh-oh-oh
I'll get him hot, show him what I've got

Oh, oh, oh, oh, ohhhh, ohh-oh-e-ohh-oh-oh,
I'll get him hot, show him what I've got

Can't read my,
Can't read my
No he can't read my poker face
(She's got to love nobody)
Can't read my
Can't read my
No he can't read my poker face
(She's got to love nobody)

P-p-p-poker face, p-p-poker face
(Mum mum mum mah)
P-p-p-poker face, p-p-poker face
(Mum mum mum mah)

I won't tell you that I love you
Kiss or hug you
Cause I'm bluffin' with my muffin
I'm not lying I'm just stunnin' with my love-glue-gunning
Just like a chick in the casino
Take your bank before I pay you out
I promise this, promise this
Check this hand cause I'm marvelous

Can't read my,
Can't read my
No he can't read my poker face
(She's got to love nobody)
Can't read my
Can't read my
No he can't read my poker face
(She's got to love nobody)

Can't read my,
Can't read my
No he can't read my poker face
(She's got to love nobody)
Can't read my
Can't read my
No he can't read my poker face
(She's got to love nobody)

Can't read my,
Can't read my
No he can't read my poker face
(She's got to love nobody)
Can't read my
Can't read my
No he can't read my poker face
(She's got to love nobody)

P-p-p-poker face, p-p-poker face
(Mum mum mum mah)
P-p-p-poker face, p-p-poker face
(Mum mum mum mah)

P-p-p-poker face, p-p-poker face
(Mum mum mum mah)
P-p-p-poker face, p-p-poker face
(Mum mum mum mah)

P-p-p-poker face, p-p-poker face
(Mum mum mum mah)
P-p-p-poker face, p-p-poker face
(Mum mum mum mah)
