Baked Cheddar Cheese Loaf Cake

Finally! Finally! I have finally baked my very first cake in the oven. *fist bump*

I have sort of "baked" a Steamed Moist Banana Cake in a rice cooker and a Muscovado Sugar Pound Cake in a bread maker. But this time, this Cheddar Cheese Loaf Cake is baked in an oven. :D

I heard about Alex Goh from Miss B (Everybody Eats Well in Flanders). She has created an Alex Goh blog-hop, or which I feel obliged to join, with much pleasure! :)

I have purchased two Alex Goh's baking class books recently. My Cheddar Cheese Loaf Cake recipe is adapted from his Cheddar Cheese Loaf recipe from his book, Creative Making of Cakes, p. 58.

Here's what I have done to bake this marvelous loaf cake!

Note: I substitute normal sugar with molasses sugar and reduce the amount as well.

Note: My cake batter is brownish because of molasses sugar. If you use normal sugar, you will get a yellowish creamy batter.

Note: I use a cake tin because I don't have loaf pans in my house. The original recipe uses loaf pans.

I'm so happy! Most importantly, hubby says it tastes good!

Every piece has this melt-in-your-mouth kind of texture.

I'm submitting this post to My Treasured Recipes - Alex Goh (June/July 2014) hosted by Miss B of Everybody Eats Well in Flanders and co-hosted by Charmaine of Mimi Bakery House.

  4. Hi joyce
You did a good job, I did this cake long ago when I first started blogging and I did not use cheddar cheese block but cheddar cheese slices, though the cheese slices were cut into very small pieces, they were all over the cake. Now I know what I should have done by looking at your cake :)
