Cheddar Cheese Biscuits

Cheddar Cheese Biscuits

These biscuits are packed with cheesy aroma, taste, and goodness. Soft and slightly chewy, I can feel the crumbs melt in my mouth.

Recipe from Cold Storage's latest newsletter.

Ingredients:
(Makes 20 biscuits)

Note: My modifications in orange.

2 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/3 cup unsalted butter, cut into chunks
2 tablespoons vegetable oil (I use 2 tablespoons corn oil)
1 cup Cheddar cheese, grated
1/2 cup milk

For brushing:
3 tablespoons butter, softened
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon dried parsley (I use 1/2 teaspoon dried mixed herbs)

How to:

1. Preheat oven to 200°C. Line a baking tray with baking sheet. In a small bowl, mix butter, garlic powder, and dried mixed herbs; set aside.

2. Whisk flour, baking powder, salt, and garlic powder in a large bowl.

3. Add cubed butter, using pastry cutter or a fork, cut butter into flour until it is coarse, pea-sized.

4. Add oil, grated cheese, and milk; stir until well-combined. Add milk a bit at a time, until the dough becomes moist and no longer see powdery flour.

5. Use your hands to shape the dough into balls and place them on the prepared baking tray. Bake for 20 minutes.

6. After the timer is up, while the biscuits are still hot, brush melted butter (from step 1) onto the biscuits until all are absorbed into the biscuits.

Add milk to the flour & cheese dough.

The dough is ready to be shaped into balls.

The biscuits are ready to go into the oven.

For brushing.

Baked to perfection - golden brown top!

Look at those cheese!

Another angle.

The insides.

Packed some as my boy's tea-time snack today.
