Movie: The Sorcerer's Apprentice (2010)

It's the coolest job ever.

The Sorcerer's Apprentice (2010) is a fantasy adventure movie from the director and producer of "National Treasure".

Disclaimer: If you haven't watched this movie, you might find spoilers in the following article.

1. What happened during Merlin's era?

Merlin had three trusted apprentices -
Balthazar Blake (Nicolas Cage), Maxim Horvath (Alfred Molina),
and Veronica (Monica Bellucci). Horvath betrayed Merlin by joining forces with Merlin's enemy, the evil sorceress Morgana. Merlin was mortally wounded by Morgana. In order to stop her, Veronica trapped Morgana's soul in her own body. Balthazar had no choice but to imprison both Morgana and Veronica in the Grimhold, a prison shaped like a nesting doll.

2. What happened to Balthazar?

Upon dying, Merlin gave Balthazar a dragon ring tha
t will choose the Prime Merlinian, the only sorcerer who will be able to defeat Morgana. For 1000 years, Balthazar imprisons Morganians (sorcerers who tried to release Morgana) into layers after layers of the Grimhold while he continued his quest to seek for the Prime Merlinian...

Here are the characters:

3. Who's the sorcerer's apprentice?

Balthazar found out that Dave Stutler (Jay Baruchel), an average-looking physics student, is the future Prime Merlinian. He gives his reluctant apprentice an immediate crash course in the art and science of magic to stop Horvath and his evil scheme to release the imprisoned Morgana. Dave has no choice but to learn fast, save the city, and get the girl he has been waiting for the past 10 years as he journeys through his destiny as The Sorcerer's Apprentice.

This is an entertaining fantasy movie with cool CGI effects, although not so mind-blowing. The way the sorcerers play with plasma balls sort of resembles Son Goku from Dragonball. :P

Overall, it's a no-brainer movie that feeds on your love for more entertainment, fantasy, and adventure. Not a bad show. You'll find yourself enjoying it. :)
