I found the reason why I fall in love with Pinterest.
In case you don't know what is Pinterest, here's a simple explanation: Pinterest is a virtual pinboard. Pinterest allows you to organize and share all the beautiful things you find on the web. You can browse pinboards created by other people to discover new things and get inspiration from people who share your interests.
Here's my Pinterest: pinterest.com/joycescapade
Okay, let me tell you why I love Pinterest.
I was in Bintulu last weekend. One of the things I did was to dig out memorabilia from my teenage years. Voila! I found three huge scrapbooks full of pictures of all sorts, mostly arts & crafts, DIYs, recipes, bags, clothes, shoes, hairstyle, and anything a girl loves under the sun.
No wonder I'm so in love with Pinterest. To me, Pinteresting is like online scrapbooking. 20 years ago, when there was no Internet, I loved "pinning" beautiful pictures onto scrapbooks. Today, I love "pinning" beautiful pictures onto my online scrapbook.
Life is indeed good. :P

Friday, September 23, 2011Interesting find during our weekend trip to Bintulu last weekend. For the past 20 years, I didn't even know there's a cineplex in Bintulu! So, there's actually a kinda dilapidated Sky Cineplex in town center.

Mi Cili Potong (Noodles with Chili Slices)I'm glad that mee in Sarawak isn't the yellow mee used in almost all fried mee dishes in West Malaysia.
Mee or Mi Cili Potong (Noodles with Chili Slices) is a type of local dish that resembles Mee Kolok and Kam Pua (Dry Noodles). The noodles are generously mixed with lard, chili slices, and served with roast pork and a sprinkle of spring onions. It's cheap, i.e. only RM2.60 per bowl and it's definitely perfect for breakfast.

Nice memories. This is the toolbox with its tools that my late dad used when he fixed broken things in and around the house.
Today, his future son-in-law is using the same tools to fix some broken things in the same house. I'm glad he has scored some brownie points with my mom, a lady of few words. Unspoken approval from her I suppose. That's good. :)

Tomato Mee's gravy is too sweet to my taste. The amount of tomato ketchup and sugar should be reduced. Mee Soup Special comes with pork innards and special herbal-ish soup. Both are priced at RM4.50 per bowl, not cheap.
In fact, only local delicacies such as Mee Kolok and Kam Pua (Mee Kering) have lower prices, i.e. between RM2.50 to RM2.80 per bowl.

Tuesday, February 8, 2011
"Ding Bian Hu" (鼎边糊)"Ding Bian Hu" is a typical Foochow delicacy (non-halal) made from rice starch solution cooked in a seafood-flavored broth. After years of missing this dish, I had it for breakfast in Bintulu this morning. Not the best that I've had so far, but it's still pretty good.
Check out my previous post about the preparation of "Ding Bian Hu".
