Spice Up Your Noodle Game with Jinjja Ramyun Today!

Hey there, fellow noodle aficionados! If you're like me and constantly on the lookout for the next big thing to tantalize your taste buds, you're in for a treat today. I recently had the pleasure of diving into not just one, but three piping hot bowls of Jinjja Ramyun, and let me tell you, I think it's a game-changer!

JINJJA Has COME! Discover Real Korean Taste

First things first, let's talk about the brand. Jinjja is a Korean word which means real in English. Jinjja Ramyun is a Korean instant noodles brand brought into Malaysia by KMT Food, a Korean food expert company that has been focusing on introducing Korean food culture in Malaysia for the past 30 years.

Flavors: Spicy Mushroom, Spicy Chicken, Kimchi

Now, let's talk flavor. Jinjja Ramyun packs a punch with its bold and spicy profile that's sure to wake up your senses. The combination of savory broth and chewy noodles creates a symphony of taste that's downright addictive. And for those who like it extra fiery, fear not - Jinjja Ramyun brings the heat in all the right ways.

There are three flavors: Kimchi, Spicy Mushroom, and Spicy Chicken. Oh, let me highlight to you that Jinjja Ramyun is halal certified.

Let's watch these "un-packet-ing" (sort of like unboxing 🤣) videos.

Jinjja Ramyun Spicy Mushroom (Soup)

Jinjja Ramyun Spicy Chicken (Dried)

Jinjja Ramyun Kimchi (Soup)

Let's get cooking!

Now, let's get down to business with the cooking process. With Jinjja Ramyun, convenience is key. The noodle's round shape makes it so convenient to cook when placed in the famous golden pot.

Just boil some water, pop in the noodles and seasoning, and voila! You've got yourself a gourmet meal in minutes. It's perfect for those busy days when you need a quick and satisfying fix without compromising on flavor.

But wait, there's more! What truly sets Jinjja Ramyun apart is its versatility. While it's delicious on its own, don't be afraid to get creative with your toppings. From luncheon meat to shredded cheese to a perfectly cooked egg, the possibilities are endless.

Trust me, you'll be amazed at how easily you can elevate this already amazing dish to new heights. The portion is quite generous at 120g per pack, guaranteeing a satisfying meal once you add all the ingredients to make it a wholesome dish.

Check out what I have cooked and my verdict for each flavor.

For the Spicy Mushroom flavor, I added luncheon meat cubes, shredded cheese, and an egg.

Verdict: 😋 I must say, the taste experience with Jinjja Ramyun’s Spicy Mushroom is delightful! However, it's important to note that the spice level might lean towards the higher end of the spectrum, which could pose a challenge for those who prefer milder flavors in their instant noodles.

If you're not particularly fond of spicy dishes, you might find the heat level for Spicy Mushroom to be a tad intense. Nonetheless, for those who enjoy a bit of heat, this noodle certainly delivers on flavor and satisfaction!

For the Kimchi flavor, I added luncheon meat cubes and an egg. If I had kimchi in my fridge, I would have added that too.

Verdict: 😋 Jinjja Ramyun’s Kimchi noodles bring a burst of flavor that's uniquely tangy and spicy, with a hint of sweetness from the kimchi seasoning. The broth is rich, tangy, and savory that ends with a satisfying heat.

For the Spicy Chicken flavor (dried noodles), I added a fried egg.

Verdict: 🤯 Now, this Spicy Chicken flavor is truly, and I mean truly, spicy. For those of you who adore god-level spiciness, this flavor will steal your heart.

My Homecooked Korean Ramyeon Recipes

What is Korean Ramyeon?

Ramyeon is Korean instant noodles; not to be confused with Japanese ramen, which can be both fresh or instant. Korean Ramyeon is always instant noodles, such as our iconic Malaysian Maggi Mee.

Korean Beef Bone Soup Noodles with Smoked Duck & Mandu

Ingredients (do adjust based on how many pax you are cooking for):

How to cook:

1. Pour the Sarigomtang soup base into a soup pot and bring it to a boil. When the soup starts to boil, add noodles and the included soup powder packet. Cover and let it boil for about 2 minutes or so.

2. While waiting for the noodles to cook, pan fry the smoked duck and mandu (defrosted) separately.

3. Open the pot's lid and stir the ramyeon to check if it's cooked (but not mushy). The best ramyeon should be firm and chewy but not undercooked either. Turn off the heat.

4. Tear open the packet of dried vegetables and sprinkle over the noodles. Serve the noodles together with smoked duck, mandu, and some kimchi (see the first photo on this blog post).

Korean Ramyeon with Mushrooms, Tofu, and Dumplings

Ingredients (do adjust based on how many pax you are cooking for):

  • Nong Shim Shin Ramyeon - can buy from Shin Korea on Shopee
  • Dried Chinese mushrooms - soaked, drained, rinsed, cut into slices
  • Enoki mushroom - rinsed, cut off the roots
  • Firm tofu - cut into cubes
  • Dumplings - can buy from Sumo Dumplings

How to cook:

1. Bring water to a boil in a golden pot meant to cook Korean Ramyeon. I bought this yellow/golden pot from Shin Korea on Shopee.

2. When the water begins to boil, add noodles plus the included soup powder packet and dried vegetables. Add in mushrooms as well. Cover and let it boil for about 1 minute.

3. Then, add in dumplings (defrosted) and tofu and cook for another 1 minute or so.

4. Open the pot's lid and stir the ramyeon to check if it's cooked (but not mushy). The best ramyeon should be firm and chewy but not undercooked either. Turn off the heat.

5. Eat the noodles straight from the golden pot! You can use the lid as a "plate" too!

Korean Ramyeon with Tofu and Spring Onion

Ingredients (do adjust based on how many pax you are cooking for):

How to cook:

1. Bring water to a boil in a pot, add noodles plus the included soup powder packet and dried vegetables. Cover and let it boil for about 1 minute or so.

2. Then, add in tofu and cook for another 1 minute or so. Add in spring onions (because I don't like to eat raw spring onion), and give everything a quick stir. Turn off the heat and serve.

Simple Kimchi Ramyeon with Dumplings

Ingredients (do adjust based on how many pax you are cooking for):

How to cook:

1. Bring water to a boil in a pot, add noodles plus the included soup powder packet and dried vegetables. Add dumplings (defrosted). Cover and let it boil for about 1 minute or so.

2. Then, add in kimchi and cook for another 1 minute or until dumplings are fully cooked.

3. Turn off the heat and serve with more kimchi!

My kids love noodles too. So I cooked Japanese Udon for them using tonkotsu soup base (can buy from Glory Mart on Shopee) and with added beef slices, egg, and seaweed sprinkles.

Menya Musashi - Shiro, Kuro, Aka - Ramen

Does the photo above look familiar to you?

A little back story: Malaysians, those staying in Klang Valley to be exact, are generally trend-setters when it comes to FOOD. Ramen for instance, is the current in-food. I have compiled a list of popular Japanese Ramen restaurants around PJ/KL area.

Back to the question. Yes, the photo above shows the paintings on the wall of the famous Menya Musashi at Level 2, Eat Paradise, Isetan @ 1U.

I like the selections of oils. Shiro - onion-flavored oil; Kuro - special oil combined of fried shallots and garlic oil; Aka - homemade Musashi chili oil.

 Shiro Ajitama Ramen

Kuro Musashi Ramen

 Aka Ajitama Ramen

The noodles' prices.

******************************

Verdict: All three types are delicious but they are equally unhealthy, definitely not something fancy for the health conscious. You will become very unhealthy and equally poor. :P

Ramen invasion

Due to the recent ramen invasion, I hereby compile a list of popular Japanese Ramen restaurants in PJ/KL area.
Let's see if I can hunt them down one by one to satisfy my ramen cravings.

Lunch @ Ajisen Ramen, Sunway Pyramid

It was a blazing hot weekend and the air was so still and stifling. David and I decided that the smart getaway for such days was to hide in shopping malls and enjoy cool air from their air-conditioners for free. :P

So, while we were at Sunway Pyramid, we had lunch at Ajisen Ramen.

Volcano Ramen

Volcano Ramen is one of Ajisen Ramen's hot ramen series. Other similar dishes include Spicy Ramen, Tom Yam Ramen, and Curry Ramen. Volcano Ramen comes with its signature blob of sweet and spicy chili paste. Stir it with your ramen and you'll get a bowl of lip-smacking soupy goodness! Hot and spicy food lovers will love this dish.

And, don't forget the slices of succulent pork belly in their finest cut that give extra kick to this dish. Two thumbs up! However, being priced at RM17.80 or RM18.80 per bowl at the moment (10% service charge isn't included yet),
it's definitely not among the cheapest ramen in town.

Fish Ramen

Fish Ramen is for those who enjoy a bowl of simple yet flavorful ramen. If you don't feel like having chicken or pork in your ramen but you still want something else other than vegetables, Fish Ramen will do you justice. You'll be delighted while helping yourself with tender fish cutlets, lots of vegetables and seaweed, and delicious milky broth.

It's slightly cheaper too, RM12.80
at the moment (10% service charge isn't included yet).
