Movie: Solomon Kane (2010)

Solomon Kane - a movie set in the 17th century is about Solomon Kane, an ex-corsair who seeks for his soul's redemption or have his soul damned to hell after his encounter with the Devil's Reaper while fighting the Spaniards in Africa.

His past brutal and cruel deeds have damned him but he's strongly determined to redeem himself by living peaceably. He returns to England and converts to puritanism, but soon the doings of Malachi, the evil sorceror causes him to go back to his evil ways again...

From my point of view, this is a dreadfully dark movie with so much presence of pure evil in it that you'll be thankful you aren't born in the 17th century, the era whereby witchcraft and sorcery are practiced like nobody's business. God's existence seems to be of insignificant importance in the movie.

Oh yeah! Kane's lonesome, solitary character can be compared to Duncan MacLeod, the Highlander - a warrior, a loner, a wanderer. The difference is that Kane is not an immortal. Haha.

On top of these, splattering blood, brutal killings, and limbs-severing scenes contribute to quite a big portion of the screen time. So, it's not recommended if you're not really into death porns, myself included. :)

By the way, at the end of the movie, the CGI-ed monster from hell that's supposed to claim Kane's soul looks so much like Megatron from Transformers the movie. -___-

All in all, this isn't a movie that has much to shout about. If you like some medieval evil thrill, you may watch it. :)
