Movie: Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore (2010)

Just like real spies... only furrier.

Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore (2010), the sequel to 2001's Cats & Dogs is a heavily CGI-ed furry spies movie.

In the age-old battle between cats and dogs, one crazed feline has taken things a paw too far. Kitty Galore, formerly an agent for cat spy organization MEOWS, has gone rogue and hatched a diabolical plan to not only bring her canine enemies to heel, but take down her former kitty comrades and make the world her scratching post. Faced with this unprecedented threat, cats and dogs will be forced to join forces for the first time in history in an unlikely alliance to save themselves -- and their humans. Source: IMDb

Canine and feline lovers may love this movie. Parents will be delighted to bring their young children to cinemas to watch this clean and funny movie. I thought I would... till I watched all sorts of creepy CGI effects that animate the animals' speech, fight, flight, etc.

This movie genre isn't something entirely new, especially if you've watched the 2001's Cats & Dogs and Marmaduke (2010), also a heavily CGI-ed movie about dogs.

Overall, this is a good movie for young children. You know what I mean...

Movie: Marmaduke (2010)

Live Large

Marmaduke (2010) is adapted from the comic strip of the same name. It centers on the daily living of Phil & Debbie Winslow, their three kids (Barbara, Brian, Sara), their mischievous Great Dane named Marmaduke, and their Balinese cat named Carlos.

Phil moves his entire family from Kansas to Orange County in California to make a better living, at least that's what he thinks. As Phil struggles to impress his boss at work, Marmaduke is creating havoc in the canine world as he tries to fit into the pedigree crowd led by Bosco, the alpha dog at Dog Park.

From left to right: Here's Marmaduke (voiced by Owen Wilson) with his "mud" friends, Mazie (voiced by Emma Stone), Raisin, and Giuseppe.

"Mud" is referred to as the non-pedigrees in this movie.

Here's Marmaduke with Jezebel (voiced by Fergie), his first girlfriend before he knows that Mazie likes him. Jezebel is actually Bosco's (voiced by Kiefer Sutherland) girlfriend.

3 reasons to like this movie despite disliking the CGI's creepy effects that animate the dogs' talking and dancing:

1) Good family values. Family comes first. Take time to listen to what your kids really want to tell you, not what you think you understand or want for them.

2) Be who you are. There's beauty behind being honest with who you are. Faking and hiding behind certain facades in order to impress others will backfire if they are torn down. Bosco found out that Marmaduke was lying and began calling him all sorts of names - Marmapuke, Marmadukey, Marmafake, etc - in front of the whole dog crowd. All of them left him. Ouch, that really hurts.

3) Don't get intimidated by looks and size. Don't judge a book by its cover, always.
Great Danes are gentle loving giants with an ugly looking face and a body the size of a pony. :)

Hotel for Dogs (2009)

Just spent the night watching Hotel for Dogs, a movie any dog lover should not miss! :D

Hotel for Dogs is a smart, funny, and heartwarming adventure movie that shows how far love and imagination can take you. Guess what? This movie's tagline is "No Stray Gets Turned Away" and there are so many adorable furry friends in the movie!! Awww!!!

Here's the movie's synopsis: Orphaned siblings, 16-year old Andi (Emma Roberts) and her 11-year old brother, Bruce (Jake T. Austin) are forbidden to keep pets by their guardians. When they decide to keep their secret pet dog, Friday, they have to find an ideal home for him. Bruce uses his engineering talents to transform an abandoned hotel into a magical dog-paradise for Friday - and eventually for all Friday's furry friends. However, when dogs' barking arouses neighbors' suspicion and being threatened by the local Animal Control Center, Andi, Bruce and their friends have to use every imagination they have to prevent the hotel from being discovered.

This is the part I like best. According to PetStyle News, many of the dogs used in this movie were rescues adopted 16 weeks before production began and trained by trainer and "Hotel for Dogs" Animal Coordinator, Mark Forbes. About 70 dogs total were used in this movie, including stand-ins. Happily, many of them found loving new homes between pre-production and filming. That is a fact that makes an awesome movie even more appealing. Read on!

WOW!

One day, when I buy my own house and work from home, I MUST have at least two dogs and two cats.

It's Fruitful Friday :)

I've cultivated a deep interest in pugs after I viewed one of my friend's video of his pug named Angus. Their photogenic visage with protruding-side-way-eyes are just oh-so-adorable to behold!

Here's Angus:

Why Must Watch: Its trailer is very impressive. Also, the cast - Hong Kong, China, Japanese. What more is there to ask?

None of these can be compared to the feeling of arriving home alone and being struck by deja vu that you are reenacting the very same scenes in the horror movie you just watched.....
Why Must Watch: Another collection to my favorite movie genre!

Update: Watched! Errr..... You shall meet an oh-not-so-friendly ghost that shouts, "You like to see me die?" and ends up gouging people's eyes out. Oh well...

Why Must Watch: It's a remake of Korea's "The Tale of Two Sisters", a very high quality horror/psychological thriller.

Update: Watched! Yes, this remake is quite good, shot within 1.5 hours, it didn't drag on like the Korean version. So, you won't get bored too easily.

A movie that provokes tears & thoughts

Yes. I mean it.

I was debating on whether to
watch or not.

I watched and the movie is called "10 Promises to My Dog" and ended up in tears and with thousands of thoughts racing through my mind. This movie is very, very touching. If you LOVE DOGS and you've a sensitive and sentimental soul like mine, you will end up in tears. I'm not exaggerating. This movie will prove what I've written here.

The first scene in the movie says something like this:
"In the beginning God created man. And He sees that man is feeble, so He gave him the dog."
Although this is not biblical, it's still kinda heartwarming.

Here are the posters with the adorable Golden Retriever pup:

This movie is based upon the Ten Commandments of Dog Ownership, as followed:

1. My life is likely to last 10-15 years.
Regular separation from you will be painful and can even cause depression.
Think before you buy me.

2. Give me time to understand what you want from me.
Don't be impatient, short-tempered or irritable.

3. Place your trust in me and I will always trust you back.
Respect is earned not given as some sort of inalienable right.

4. Don't be angry with me for long, and don't lock me up as punishment.
I am not capable of understanding why I am being locked up, I only know I have been rejected.
You have your work, entertainment and friends. I only have you.

5. Talk to me sometimes.
Even if I don't understand your words, I do understand your tone.
"You only have to look at my tail" to know that.

6. Be aware that however you treat me, I will never forget.
If that treatment is unjust or bad, it may spoil the special bond between us.

7. Please do not hit me.
I cannot hit back, but I can bite and scratch and I don't ever want to feel the need to do that.

8. Before you tell me off me for being uncooperative, obstinate, or lazy, ask yourself if something might be wrong with me.
Perhaps I'm not getting the right food or I've been out in the sun too long, maybe my heart is getting old and weak, or maybe I'm just dog-tired.

9. Take care of me when I get old.
You too will grow old and will also want care, love, and affection.

10. Go with me on difficult journeys.
Never say, "I can't bear to watch" or "Let it happen in my absence".
Everything is easier for me if you are there.
Remember, irrespective of what you do I will always love you.

Oh my... I could feel tears in my eyes even when I'm typing and re-reading the sentences above, especially number 9 & 10. I better move on.

*sniff sniff*

Found another touching quote:
He is your friend, your partner, your defender, your dog.
You are his life, his love, his leader.
He will be yours, faithful and true, to the last beat of his heart.
You owe it to him to be worthy of such devotion.

Here are two reviews:
