King of Fighters (2010) is live-action movie based on the successful The King of Fighters series of fighting games.
I've also watched another two movies of similar genre: Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li (2009) and Tekken (2010). And oh... I didn't watch Dragonball: Evolution (2009). So far, none of these movies are good enough to give us the "wow" factor and make our jaws drop in awe. Sigh...
So, what's King of Fighters all about? Here's the movie's synopsis: To realize his dark and ambitious plan to become the King of Fighters, the evil Rugal (Ray Park, Darth Maul in Star Wars) hides in the dimensions of underground fighters while trying to unleash and garner the power of an ancient evil force called the Orochi.
The last surviving descendants of three legendary clans -- Chizuru Kagura (Françoise Yip), Kyo Kusanagi (Sean Faris), and Iori Yagami (Will Yun Lee) -- have no choice but to put aside their ancestors' dispute and join forces to stop Rugal before it is too late. Mai Shiranui (Maggie Q), an undercover CIA agent assists them in this perilous journey of saving the world.
Get ready for lotsa adrenaline rush and girl power in this movie from Chizuru & Mai, the good girls; and Vice (Bernice Liu) & Mature (Monique Ganderton), the bad girls! Besides that, nothing much to shout about. There is basically not much story to tell in this movie and its cinematography really needs improvement. Too many close-up shots and shaky camera movements during intense fight scenes give me strained eyes and a slight headache.
Well, this is not a movie that you must watch unless you happen to be a fan of Maggie Q and/or Ray Park. :)
