I wanna drive a KIA Forte Koup this Valentine's Day!

My heart melted the moment I came to know about this contest by KIA Malaysia.

All you need to do is to share your love for KIA on your blog or Twitter or Facebook or YouTube and tell KIA Malaysia about it. If they love it, the winner (ONE ONLY) gets to drive the KIA Forte Koup from 11th February (Saturday) till 15th February (Wednesday) in conjunction with this year's Valentine's Day!

Love the Forte Koup's tagline:
Leaves you Speechless

******************************

Now, let me tell you why I'd love to have the Forte Koup as my Valentine's Day drive.

In January 2010, I met a motoring journalist at a gathering. He mentioned that he would be giving the KIA Forte a test drive during one of the weekends.

Not a week later, he tweeted that he had gotten the KIA Forte for review. It all started with a simple question of me asking him about the color of the car. And wouldn't you know it! He replied me, asking me out to take a spin in the car with him!

So, destiny had it that the KIA Forte became the first car I was driven around by the editor whom, two years later, is the one I'd be marrying in June this year. As a note, we just got engaged in December 2011. :)

******************************

You see, since the KIA Forte sealed the deal and set the stage two years ago, it'd be lovely to drive a KIA Forte Koup with my fiance this Valentine's Day...

TGV Cinemas launched TGV CLUB on 18 Jan 2012

TGV Cinemas proudly announces that 18 January 2012 marks another celebrated milestone as this auspicious date signals the official launch of TGV CLUB - their very own exclusive, premier experience for moviegoers!

As part of the celebration at TGV Sunway Pyramid, we are treated to the premiere of the movie Underworld: Awakening, of which I'll blog separately. Here's the review.

There are two movie halls, i.e. CLUB 1 and CLUB 2. There is also an exclusive CLUB lounge that serves their signature food and beverage menu. This is indeed a good place to chillax with your loved one and friends while you purchase delicious stuff from their menu. The nachos are pretty good!

Tweeples met at the launch (from left to right): @Joshualaw88, myself, @ZhengNorahs @amelialing911 @tianchad

According to Shen, TGV Cinemas' Brand Manager, a tin of this Popcorn Royale is priced at RM29. We are given samples and I must admit they are really delicious!

The CLUB halls have plush, luxurious seats with ample of legroom. There's a tray with plenty of space for food and beverage to the left of each seat.

And, our takeaway gift is this humongous TGV Cinemas Ah Beng TUMBO.

Thanks TGV Cinemas for this awesome experience!

One good thing about the Facebook Timeline "mayhem" is that you can discover good stuff such as when I became friends with fellow Tweeples after an outing with them called the #twtclub in January 2010. :D

25 Dec 2011 - With Hand & Heart - It's a Yes ♥

December 2011 will always be remembered as truly the best blessed Christmas ever.

It's indeed true with this quote, "Christmas isn't about finding the perfect gift, but it's about finding the perfect moment with your family."

And yes, it's the perfect moment for an unforgettably lovely proposal. :)

The Irish Claddagh ring stands as a monument to love, friendship, and loyalty. The design is striking and unmistakable, two hands (symbolizing friendship) joined together to support a single heart (signifying love), and upon it a crown (signifying loyalty). Its motto, not surprisingly, is 'let love and friendship reign'.

Quoting the fiance, "The Bates family motto is 'Et Manu Et Corde' - With Hand and Heart, same as the ring."

Being a Bates, David has Irish blood in him. In fact, he explains to me thoughtfully, he has been preparing to propose with an Irish Claddagh ring when the time comes.

David has always been a thoughtful and logical person. When he gives some thoughts into planning something, the result is always surprisingly meaningful. That's what I love best about him!

******************************

Okay, story time!

Part 1

The day we arrived for Christmas eve in Terengganu, he was sent to town to get some ice while I was sent to the kitchen to help his mom with cooking.

You know what? Later I was told, this entire episode was actually a "show" with some help from his parents. They had discussed the plan beforehand. The reason his dad asked him to go to town to get ice was so that he could prepare the proposal bouquet. The reason I had to stay in the kitchen to help his mom was to prevent me from following him to town. :P

When he came back with no ice, he said nonchalantly that the town had ran out of ice, I believed him. Now that I knew the story, I wondered if his parents chuckled in the kitchen at that time. :D

Part 2

The next day, after attending Christmas mass, he said, "Let's check out the private beach at Primula Beach Resort. It looks like a good place to take some photos." So, I agreed, unsuspectingly.

We strolled at the seaside and enjoyed Christmas day breeze for some time, then we headed back to the lounge because he said he needed the toilet. I waited for him at the lounge. Hmm... come to think of it, he was away for quite a while at that time. :P

Part 3

My phone rang.

David: Are you checking Twitter?
Me: Nope, why?
David: Check Twitter now.
Me: Okay.

When my mentions page was loaded, I saw these tweets:

I panicked.

O_O

Then, David appeared out of nowhere like a ninja with a bouquet of sunflowers and a little box.

Part 4

I was flabbergasted. He was nervous. We looked at each other and didn't know what to do.

All of a sudden, he passed the bouquet of sunflowers to me, knelt down on one knee, and said a speech or something. I think my heart stopped beating, I was even more panicked, and all I remembered was I nodded my head and said, "Yes", and the ring was secured on my finger. :D

Then, he explained to me why he was asking me so many questions about Twitter mentions the day before. He also said he didn't go to the toilet, he was at his car posting tweets from his laptop and the telco's "wonderful" network wasn't really helpful but thank God I wasn't on Twitter while he was posting halfway. :P

******************************

This was my first Christmas in his hometown; and on Christmas day, he popped the unforgettable question. Quoting him, "The beach is a place that will remain forever. That's why I chose the beach."

Teatime session with Nuffnang & Chatime @ EAT Food Village, Publika, Solaris Dutamas

It was an afternoon well-spent with Nuffnang & Chatime @ EAT Food Village, Publika, Solaris Dutamas.

Timothy Tiah (Nuffnang founder), Mark, and Richie (owner of this Chatime outlet). Business is indeed looking good.

Some Nuffies took on the challenge during the game session to guess eight different types of Chatime beverages. I would say it wasn't that easy, unless you're a really hardcore Chatime lover.

We were given vouchers to "purchase" Chatime and so we had Taiwan Ginger Tea (steaming hot and less sugar, perfect for me!), Lemon Yogurt Smoothies, and Japanese Matcha Red Bean Smoothies. I don't usually go for friggin' cold drinks so I went straight for the ginger tea.

Now this is interesting - the EAT circuit.

According to the directory, the foodie outlets are Yeoh's Bak Kut Teh, Tian Yuan Claypot, Fishing Village Yong Tau Foo, BM Yam Rice, Sentul Ah Yap Hokkien Mee, Lorong Seratus Tahun, Kin Kin Pan Mee, Loke Yun Chicken Rice, and Hoong Kee Wantan Mee.

Introducing the infamous Kin Kin Chili Pan Mee.

The door gift.

And lastly, the obligatory photo of look of the day. :)

Dress: Can't remember
Earrings: Gift from David's mom
Bracelet: HOJB
Watch: Swatch
Necklace: Niichi
Handbag: F. timber
Shoes: Crocs

Discover Your Twitter Character on Visual.ly

Twitterized by Visual.ly

This Twitter Data-Generated Infographic says that I've a geeky grin, I'm a techie, my likely obsession is based on circumstantial evidence, and I'm a Twitter Pro with less than 2K followers.

One interesting stuff: Follow Visually on Twitter, like Visually on Facebook, or give Visually a +1 for a chance to get your very own customized avatar. Cool eh? Let's see if I can get the avatar.

Get yourself Twitterized too!

http://visual.ly/twitter

How does it work?

We are using data from your Twitter account's tweets (posts) combined with some twitter data from our friends over at infochimps. Our Twitterize yourself tool will generate an infographic in an instant based upon your information.

The 'outfits' and 'accessories' are chosen based upon keywords most associated for you. For example, if you tweet a lot about wineries, you will see a wine glass in your hand; Go to the ballpark often? Then your avatar will be dressed in a sports jersey and so on. There are a total of 11 possible outfits that depict your overall Twitter personality and 29 different accessories that could be assigned to show your interests.

We don't stop there, though! You'll also see cool diagrams of data depicting the amount of tweets, followers, people you're following and the amount of tweets you see per day. If you've chosen to compare yourself to another Twitter user (including a celebrity account), you'll also see who's the bigger retweeter, who's more social, who's more interesting and what your comparative followers to following ratios are, as well as topics you potentially have in common.

Once the Visual.ly exclusive Twitterize yourself infographic has been created, you can share with your friends via Twitter and Facebook and on your blog with ease.

Saw this flaming red Naza Blade named Alice. Another bike which is also christened as Alice is this Demak DTM 150. :)

Well, I have a thing for superbikes even before I know David. Superbikes draw me like a moth drawn to a flame. My first, really close encounter with superbikes is at Sepang International Circuit. That's where David and I went during our second date. :P

Then, I'm thrilled to come face to face with more supercars and superbikes during the Verity Super Engine Oil Launch, 20 November 2010, also at Sepang International Circuit.

Next, I'm gonna attend the Kuala Lumpur International Motor Show (KLIMS) 2010 at Putra World Trade Center (PWTC), 3-12 December 2010. I won a pair of tickets to this show by joining Toyota Malaysia's Twitter contest. :D

Cool!

Bought this T-shirt from the Blӧok (belookedat) outlet at Bangsar Baru. I was attracted to the visuals that resemble the Twitter bird and those lines that resemble networking. Pretty cool. RM29 only.

I'm wearing it!

Project 365 - Photo #288

I was browsing through photo albums on Facebook when I saw this photo, taken by the SMCKL team on 23 October 2009. For once, thank God for the crappy Facebook Memories feature. :P

Why? Read about my beef with this feature not so long ago.

The first guy in the photo (highlighted in yellow square) is David. The almost invisible person (highlighted in a smaller yellow square) is yours truly. At that point of time, I haven't known David yet, not till early January 2010.

Now that I think of it, it's really amazing that I was just a mere few steps away from the person who will become the boyfriend and I wasn't aware of it at all...

Well, I guess the quote that I posted on Twitter today is timely: "Fate controls who walks into your life. You decide who you let walk out, who you let stay, and who you refuse to let go." - Unknown

God is good at being God. No wonder He says, "...walk by faith, not by appearance." - 2 Corinthians 5:7

Got this box of Windows Messenger thumbdrive & lanyard after attending a discussion about Microsoft's Save Social Energy campaign at Starbucks, Bangsar Village II with fellow Tweeples.

Social energy is the extent to which people can enjoy being social -- both in real terms and online. According to Scott Young, a blogger that seemingly coined the term, "Social energy comes from spending time in a stimulating environment with other people."

In a nutshell, we explore ideas of how to save social energy by having less clutter and yet, more chatter. Windows Live Essentials is a good solution. I shall blog about some of its interesting features after I download and explore the pack. :)

Visit savesocialenergy.com for more information.
