I love to attend my church's wedding thanksgiving meetings. Whenever there's one being conducted in the church's meeting hall, I'll find time to attend. This time round, it's Bro. Simon and Sis. Sook Fun's wedding thanksgiving meeting in Penang. :) Praise the Lord for this couple, another household to serve the Lord and His church!Here's every Christian couple's consecration vow before the Lord for their household. Joshua 25:14: "As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord."
In a wedding thanksgiving meeting, we listen to messages spoken by leading brothers. The message given this morning is very powerful. Here are the main points: Christ is the Universal Bridegroom; the Church is the Bride. A Great Mystery: Christ and the Church. In Ephesians 5:23-32, we see that the living between a wife and a husband is the type of the church and Christ.
Verses 31-32: "For this cause a man shall leave his father and mother and shall be joined to his wife, and the two shall be one flesh. This mystery is great, but I speak with regard to Christ and the church."
This is a very high view about marriage. Marriage is not to fulfill our own enjoyment, need, or even convenience. Marriage is holy and ordained by God. God sees the union between a husband and a wife as the type of Christ and the church. If we view marriage with God's view, we shall honor God's selection, time, and way in preparing the right person for us.
I hate the world's distorted view about courtship and marriage. May the Lord save and preserve all seeking Christians who love the Lord from being consumed by the world's horrible practices.
In Genesis 2:18, God said, "It is not good for the man to be alone; I will make him a helper as his counterpart." God prepared Eve for Adam to be his counterpart. This is God's promise to Adam and this is what Eve is for. I believe that there's an Adam for every Eve and an Eve for every Adam. :)
Apart from messages, we also sing hymns. The three ending hymns presented by the youths and serving ones are very powerful and touching.
