By George Carlin (May 12 1937 - June 22 2008)

The paradox of our time in history.....

We have taller buildings but shorter tempers; wider freeways , but narrower viewpoints.

We spend more, but have less; we buy more, but enjoy less.

We have bigger houses and smaller families; more conveniences, but less time.

We have more degrees but less sense; more knowledge, but less judgment; more experts, yet more problems; more medicine, but less wellness.

We drink too much, smoke too much, spend too recklessly, laugh too little, drive too fast, get too angry, stay up too late, get up too tired, read too little, watch TV too much, and pray too seldom.

We have multiplied our possessions, but reduced our values.

We talk too much, love too seldom, and hate too often.

We've learned how to make a living, but not a life.

We've added years to life not life to years.

We've been all the way to the moon and back, but have trouble crossing the street to meet a new neighbor.

We conquered outer space but not inner space.

We've done larger things, but not better things.

We've cleaned up the air, but polluted the soul.

We've conquered the atom, but not our prejudice.

We write more, but learn less.

We plan more, but accomplish less.

We've learned to rush, but not to wait.

We build more computers to hold more information, to produce more copies than ever, but we communicate less and less.

These are the times of fast foods and slow digestion, big men and small character, steep profits and shallow relationships.

These are the days of two incomes but more divorce, fancier houses, but broken homes.

These are days of quick trips, disposable diapers, throwaway morality, one night stands, overweight bodies, and pills that do everything from cheer, to quiet, to kill.

Remember, spend some time with your loved ones, because they are not going to be around forever.

Remember, say a kind word to someone who looks up to you in awe, because that little person soon will grow up and leave your side.

Remember, to give a warm hug to the one next to you, because that is the only treasure you can give with your heart and it doesn't cost a cent.

Remember to say, 'I love you' to your partner and your loved ones, but most of all mean it. A kiss and an embrace will mend hurt when it comes from deep inside of you.

Remember to hold hands and cherish the moment for someday that person will not be there again.

Give time to love, give time to speak! And give time to share the precious thoughts in your mind.

AND ALWAYS REMEMBER:

Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.

Say NO to stress at work

Tips of managing stress at work to reduce problems as highlighted below are taken from this article.

My insight: Among all happenings during working hours, if I could deal with whatever kind of stress there are, I'd be much happier and periodical tension headaches will be gone for good. :)

Here are the tips:

Create a lunchtime ritual you enjoy: It's the half-way point of the day, make it yours: music, magazines, go outside, play on Facebook, learn something new on a podcast.

Clear your desk of unnecessary stuff: Don't let outdated debris clutter your workspace. Go feed the recycling barrel.

Have updates for your manager: What did you do today that's useful and helps the company? Keep an ongoing list of projects you've done and save positive feedback you get via email.

Prioritize with honesty: Complete the big projects first and ask for help sooner rather than later. To get up to speed, you can try our free tutorials, videos, and instruction on various Office programs.

Less complaining and more smiling: Avoid drama, gossip less, and watch the people around you respond accordingly to your positive energy.

Admit to mistakes: Reduce complications and increase personal integrity.

Do your job: Be the one who doesn't need micromanaging. Take the initiative, earn trust and simplify your work life.

"Happiness at work is about mindfully making the best use of the resources you have to overcome the challenges you face. Actively relishing the highs and managing the lows will help you maximize your performance and achieve your potential. And this not only builds your happiness but also that of others - who will be affected and energized by what you do." - Dr Laurel Edmunds and Jessica Pryce-Jones

Pizza Hut Express Lunch Combo #2

Here's a very hearty, creamy, and happy weekday lunch suggestion that gives me post-lunch side effects, i.e., blissfully sleepy. LOL! :D

So, here's Pizza Hut's Express Lunch Combo #2 (Pasta + Breadstix + Soup-of-the-Day). RM9.05 (after tax).

Note: The website's Express Lunch Combo Promo is no updated. :S

I chose Creamy Carbonara for my pasta.
You can choose from Spicy Arrabbiata, Prawn Olio, Creamy Carbonara, and Meatball Bolognaise. So far, I've tried Creamy Carbonara and Meatball Bolognaise. Not bad!

Breadstix - 4 pieces
A great cheesy side-dish that goes well with the creamy soup-of-the-day (no photo here).

Criss-Cut Fries
Not part of the Lunch Combo - great crispy side-dish!

God always sends rainbows, after the rain...

If you're missing somebody, demised or alive, without much explanation, that surely means something, somehow.

******************************

Here's a famous poem.

Whatever your cross,
whatever your pain,
there will always be sunshine,
after the rain...

Perhaps you may stumble,
perhaps even fall,
But God's always ready,
to answer your call...

He knows every heartache,
He sees every tear,
A word from His lips,
can calm every fear...

Your sorrows may linger,
throughout the night,
But suddenly vanish,
in dawn's early light...

The Savior is waiting,
somewhere above,
To give you His grace,
and send you His love...

Whatever your cross,
whatever your pain,
"God always sends rainbows,
after the rain..."

*
*****************************

Remember this verse as well.

1 Corinthians 10:13
No temptation has taken you except that which is common to man; and God is faithful, who will not allow that you be tempted beyond what you are able, but will, with the temptation, also make the way out, that you may be able to endure it.

OMG, u pushed my face in!!!

Having a GOOD LAUGH is the right way to start the first day of the week. :D
1

I drink...

...soy milk (V-Soy is my choice), coffee, ginger beer, soda, and chrysanthemum tea.

I love Cold Storage for its variety of canned and bottled drinks, especially those imported goods. Spending time browsing from rack to rack, marveling at all sorts of bottles and cans, etc has been a great weekend stress-reducing remedy, especially when you received work troubleshooting emails & SMSes while you want to relax. :)

Movie: The Taking of Pelham 123 (2009)

Hijack . Negotiate . Die

A few pointers from my opinion:

*Pretty straightforward with a pretty generic overall feel. The hostages look like civilians who really boarded the hijacked subway train.

*Inappropriately labeled. The Malaysian Censorship Board gave it an "18SG". Where got violent? Hmmmph!

*Denzel Washington is as cool as a cucumber & John Travolta looks like he's ready to give you a hell of a performance.

*You know John Turturro (Agent Simmons in Transformers) and Ramón Rodríguez (Leo, Sam's college roommate in Transformers)? Both of them are part of the cast as supporting roles in this movie. It's just so hard to convince myself that those serious looks on their face are genuine. LOL!

Read here if you decide to know more about the storyline.

Penang Village @ Tropicana City Mall

Tropicana City Mall, proudly known as the New Pulse of PJ (Petaling Jaya) is really, still new. Getting there is fairly easy for anyone who's familiar with the main highways in the Klang Valley.

This mall is far smaller and less happening compared to the well-established One Utama at Bandar Utama and the well-connected areas of The Curve & Cineleisure at Mutiara Damansara.

Anyway, since the crowd that throngs this mall is relatively smaller, it's still a great weekend getaway spot. In fact, buying movie tickets at GSC at this mall is fast (not many people).

About food, my sister and I paid Penang Village a visit.

Address: Lot 1-49, First Floor, Tropicana City Mall.
Opposite Pho Hoa, a Vietnamese restaurant.

Thumbs up for its Penang Assam Laksa & Char Kuey Teow.

Cents & Sensibility

Cents & Sensibility

Cents
50sen x 202 = RM101
20sen x 510 = RM102
10sen x 610 = RM61
5sen x 80 = RM4

Total = RM268

Sensibility
I'll bank in these terribly heavy duit syiling to CIMB. My sister and I have this consensus - the money in this account will serve as our leisure fund - weekly food & movie outing. ^^

But then, although we've started this fund about 1.5 years ago, we seldom touch the money. We'll just be faithful by depositing more and more 5, 10, 20, and 50 cents coins and withdraw some if we feel like it. :-)

It's fun and I've a great time counting and assembling the coins on the tiles like battalions. Can you imagine counting and arranging (202 + 510 + 610 + 80 = 1,402) pieces of coins? It's fun, one way to cure boredom on a Sunday evening. ^^

Here's my Starscream ^^

The Starscream Hunt™ mission is accomplished!

Voyager Box

Introducing Starscream
(description from on the back of the box)
:

The moment his sensor net registered Megatron going offline, Starscream knew the battle was over, and the AllSparks lost. He converted to vehicle mode and boosted for outer space, hoping to buy enough time to rally the Decepticons survivors. Returning from Cybertron bearing the marks won during his reign over the Decepticons Army, he is focused on conquest. With a new army behind him, he has the strength to pursue his own goals, and perhaps, when the time is right, bring Megatron back.

[Friday-21] Obsessed

Tagline: All's fair when love is war.

Obsessed is about 3 main characters and 1 main plot. The story is as easy as counting 123 and reciting ABC. And yes, watch the trailer and you'll know what the whole story is about.

It's about a delusional young woman who fantasizes about her company's vice president, creates her own make-beliefs, gets caught in a "catfight" with the man's legal wife, and ends up dead in his house. Pretty straightforward, huh?

Ali Larter is pretty and Beyonce Knowles is fierce. The best part of the movie is the last 20 minutes or so, yeah, the fight between the two ladies. :P

Ah well, it's just a movie.

Random Wednesday Thoughts

Minus all the problems we face, of course.
Nevertheless, life is beautiful.

Whether it's "falls in", "stays in" or "falls out", don't fret too much.
If it happens, good. If not, it's still good.

Starscream Hunt™

I'm the proud owner of a Bumblebee and a Bonecrusher, I mean toys. :P

Lately, I found out, I've qualified myself into the fa
ndom of the mean Decepticons!!! I mean it.

I [HEART] STARSCREAM!!!

Starscream caught my attention in 2007 in Transformers 1, but his appeal wasn't as strong as Bumblebee at that time. So, I ended up buying myself a Bumblebee. However, after watching Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen in 2009, somehow, Starscream's appeal was so much stronger! Bumblebee is still my favorite Autobot. And now, Starscream is my favorite Decepticon. Here's proof. :)

The Starscream Hunt™ has officially begun the moment I blogged about Starscream as my favorite Decepticon. The coward has "won my heart". LOL!

First, Starscream's on my mobile phone as wallpaper. I've blogged about it. :P

Found this very mean-looking Starscream from here.

Now, Starscream's my IM avatar.

He's also standing menacingly on my laptop as wallpaper. I got him as screensaver too. Not displayed here.

This is another wallpaper - KIV for future. :P

Next mission: Get a physical Starscream toy to stand on my table!!!

Budget Weekend Meals

I'm on diet and my purse is on budget. So, can't spend too much on food. :P

Found some nice places to have dinner.

First, the Thai food stalls behind Giant Kelana Jaya, LDP. They aren't permanent but seasonal. Usually, they'll spend about a month here before moving elsewhere and come back again some other time.

The food stalls provide a variety of Thai delicacies.

Thai Chicken Noodle Soup (RM5 per bowl)
Tastes like Chinese herb soup but slightly sweeter. Quite oily, don't consume the soup. Its portion is just nice with two pieces of chicken and some kangkung. You can choose the type of noodles that you want.

Songtam (RM5 per plate)
This is the very well-known Thai young papaya salad. If you don't like its spiciness and saltiness, do remind the lady to omit the chillies (super hot cili padi) and rock salt. Or else, you'll have a hard time finishing the whole plate.

******************************

Another great place for Dim Sum - Dragon One at SS2, Petaling Jaya, right beside Murni.

Fried Bean Sheet
I opted for the cheaper version, the one without prawns. :)

Minced Meat & Fish Ball
Hmmm... Not bad but they could have increase the fillings, not thickening the outer skin. :)
