Movie: Adele: Rise of the Mummy (2010)

Adele: Rise of the Mummy (2010) is also known as The Extraordinary Adventures of Adèle Blanc-Sec (French: Les aventures extraordinaires d'Adèle Blanc-Sec). This movie is adapted from Jacques Tardi's graphic novels in the 19

Synopsis: Set in Paris in 1912, feisty, witty, pretty, and famous novelist Adèle Blanc-Sec (Louise Bourgoin) is on a quest to save her twin sister. She's all geared up for adventures as she travels around the world and faces troublemakers, cops, and other unimaginable happenings.

Well, well, well. This would be a good movie if the storyline is a little bit less complicated. It starts off with a narration about different minor characters of the movie. Pretty impressive. I'm enjoying myself when all of a sudden, Adèle comes into the scene, without head and tail. Then, another scene that focuses on a different character comes into being. Then, another plot with another character comes in. Arrgghh... my line of thought is basically flying around trying to catch the linkage of each subplot. Not a very pleasant experience I'd say.

The compensating point of this movie is its visually satisfying, beautiful, and impressive shots of early 1900s Paris. And perhaps, some humor and suspense, albeit very minor. Anyway, I think the ending is a bit too abrupt. When the ending credits roll, I ask myself, "Huh? That's it?"

Sadly, I don't think this is a recommended movie.
