Movie: Æon Flux (2005)

The future is flux.

Æon Flux (2005) is a sci-fi movie adapted from an animated sci-fi TV series of the same name.

Synopsis: In 2011, a virus wiped out 99% of the earth's population. For 400 years, about five million survivors inhabit Bregna, a Utopian, walled city. They are ruled by the Goodchild regime, headed by Chairman Trevor Goodchild, the descendant of the scientist who found the cure of the virus.

Æon Flux (Charlize Theron) is a mysterious assassin, a member of the 'Monicans', an underground rebel organization. As instructed by the Handler, Æon has been assigned to assassinate Goodchild. However, she soon uncovers deeper secrets, conspiracies, and her own destiny.

This movie reminds me of recent movies that I've watched, i.e. The Island and the Resident Evil series. All these movies have one or more of these elements: post-apocalyptic future, sizzling hot "femme fatale" who saves the world, bad scientists or corporation, human cloning, etc.

In Æon Flux, you can't help but to compare Milla Jovovich's Alice and Charlize Theron's
Æon. Both are equally hot on their heels to save the dwindling world population from the brink of extinction. There are quite a number of impressive action sequences that involve extensive physical combats and high caliber weapon fights.

If you like Resident Evil, you'll like
Æon Flux too. :)
