Movie: Fright Night (2011)

You can't run from evil when it lives next door.

Fright Night (2011) is a comedy horror vampire movie, the remake of the 1985 original movie of the same name.

Synopsis: Charley Brewster (Anton Yelchin) discovers that his new neighbor next door, Jerry (Colin Farrell) is a vampire who's killing people in the neighborhood, including his schoolmates. No one understands his predicament, including his mother (Toni Collette) and his gorgeous girlfriend, Amy (Imogen Poots). He turns to the Peter Vincent (David Tennant), a flamboyant, self-proclaimed vampire killer and Vegas magician, to help him take Jerry down.

Thankfully, Jerry the vampire in Fright Night is not Edward the sparkly vampire in Twilight. Jerry the vampire sounds really funny but he's one mean old vampire who enjoys feeding on youngsters.

In fact, this movie cleverly balances horror and comedy; suspenseful moments of scares, blood, and gore are tamed down with some laughs here and there. That's a pretty good treat.

Also, the cast is good. You won't be disappointed with their performances, especially Colin Farrell. As Jerry the vampire, he doesn't have to do anything, he just stands there, stares at you, and that's enough to freak you out. He's the kind of vampire who doesn't need to act all sparkly and pretty. Well basically, Colin Farrell bathes in his role like the character bathes in human blood.

David Tennant and Anton Yelchin give pretty memorable performances, especially when the duo teams up to take Jerry down in his nest/lair.

Overall, this is an entertaining vampire movie, one that freaks you out and at the same time, makes you laugh. Do watch it.
