DVD: The Inner Room (2011)

The Past Never Dies

The Inner Room (2011) is a feature length supernatural thriller movie.

Synopsis: A young couple, Chris (Marty Lindsey) and Julianne (Jessica Duffy) visit a remote cabin deep in the woods to salvage their shaky marriage following a tragic incident that also leaves Julianne on medication. While they are spending time in the cabin, Juliane is severely disturbed by horrific visions, causing Chris to doubt her sanity. As she becomes more and more obsessed in finding out the source of the visions, she realizes that she needs to convince Chris or she'll have to let go in order to survive.

You know you're watching a crappy movie when the movie's first 15 minutes leaves a bad taste in your mouth with its visibly low-budget, low-tech cinematography, poor lighting, cheap special effects, fake blood, and draggy scenes.

However, Jessica Duffy acts well and is the movie's sole saving grace. The way she keeps on saying "nothing" irks me, but it's precisely this I-don't-know-how-to-express-myself expression that scores brownie points for her trauma-stricken character.

Unfortunately, this is another one of those don't-bother-to-watch movies that goes straight to DVD. Too bad it's only good enough to pass off as a project for aspiring movie students.
