What is Glamping?
According to the dictionary, glamping is "a form of camping involving accommodation and facilities more luxurious than those associated with traditional camping. Glamping is likely to satisfy any city slicker seeking a little refuge in nature—without foregoing any of life's luxuries".
Wikipedia says, "glamping is a portmanteau of glamor and camping and describes a style of camping with amenities and, in some cases, resort-style services not usually associated with "traditional" camping. Glamping has become particularly popular with 21st-century tourists seeking the luxuries of hotel accommodation alongside the escapism and adventure recreation of camping."
Get Lost, Naturally at The Sticks
According to TimeOut KL's article about glamping sites in Malaysia, when your perfect weekend getaway includes nature, but also the modern luxuries of everyday life, there's glamping. The Sticks at Kuala Kubu Baru is listed as a great venue if you want to check in for an off-the-grid weekend retreat in the jungles to experience eco-glamping.
My husband and I brought our two boys (4yo and 1yo) for a one-night stay at The Sticks after Christmas last year (2017). The Sticks, located at Lot 213, Jalan KKB - Fraser's Hill, Kuala Kubu Baru, Selangor (Google Maps) is a full-board retreat so all you have to do is sit back, relax, and enjoy their delicious servings of home-cooked food. You can also go for jungle trekking and whitewater rafting or just chill by the river before lazing around in hammocks or tendok (half tent, half pondok or hut in Malay).
What did we do?
We didn't come prepared with gears for jungle trekking and whitewater rafting. So, we just went for casual walks around the retreat.
