Hotteok (Korean Sweet Pancakes)

My kiddos LOVE pancakes. They can eat pancakes for breakfast, lunch, snack, or dinner, and they are happy campers! Here are all the pancakes that I have made for the past many years.😋😋😋

This round, I try my hands on making Hotteok (sweet Korean pancakes with sugar and nuts filling). Yes, I'm still riding the Korean wave! Hehe!

Beksul Hotteok Mix (Sweet Korean Pancake Mix)

What's inside the Beksul Hotteok Mix box?

1 bag of Sweet Korean Pancake Mix (296g)
1 bag of dried jam mix (100g)
1 packet of dry yeast (4g)

Instructions:
(Make 8 pancakes)

1. Dissolve dry yeast in 180-200 ml lukewarm water.

2. After the dry yeast dissolves, add in pancake flour and mix well until a ball of sticky dough is formed.

3. Rub cooking oil on your hands to avoid the dough sticking to your hands. Divide the dough into 8 balls. Beware: The dough is really sticky!

4. Flatten a dough ball. Then, add a tablespoon of dried jam mix to the middle of the flattened dough. Seal the dough ball. Note: I did this like sealing a char siew pao.

5. Heat up a little bit of cooking oil in a frying pan. Place the pancake dough (sealed part down) to "lock" the pancake.

6. Pan-fry the dough until you see that the bottom starts to turn light brown. Then, turn the dough around and flatten it. Pan-fry until golden brown.

Okay, I obviously put too little jam mix in the middle of the pancakes. They are supposed to have a layer of visible gooey jammy filling. 😂😅

I shall try making Hotteok again as my eldest kiddo gives me a thousand thumbs up! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

By the way, I also make my go-to normal fluffy pancakes for my youngest kiddo.

Also a thousand thumbs up! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
