My Homecooked Korean Ramyeon Recipes

What is Korean Ramyeon?

Ramyeon is Korean instant noodles; not to be confused with Japanese ramen, which can be both fresh or instant. Korean Ramyeon is always instant noodles, such as our iconic Malaysian Maggi Mee.

Korean Beef Bone Soup Noodles with Smoked Duck & Mandu

Ingredients (do adjust based on how many pax you are cooking for):

How to cook:

1. Pour the Sarigomtang soup base into a soup pot and bring it to a boil. When the soup starts to boil, add noodles and the included soup powder packet. Cover and let it boil for about 2 minutes or so.

2. While waiting for the noodles to cook, pan fry the smoked duck and mandu (defrosted) separately.

3. Open the pot's lid and stir the ramyeon to check if it's cooked (but not mushy). The best ramyeon should be firm and chewy but not undercooked either. Turn off the heat.

4. Tear open the packet of dried vegetables and sprinkle over the noodles. Serve the noodles together with smoked duck, mandu, and some kimchi (see the first photo on this blog post).

Korean Ramyeon with Mushrooms, Tofu, and Dumplings

Ingredients (do adjust based on how many pax you are cooking for):

  • Nong Shim Shin Ramyeon - can buy from Shin Korea on Shopee
  • Dried Chinese mushrooms - soaked, drained, rinsed, cut into slices
  • Enoki mushroom - rinsed, cut off the roots
  • Firm tofu - cut into cubes
  • Dumplings - can buy from Sumo Dumplings

How to cook:

1. Bring water to a boil in a golden pot meant to cook Korean Ramyeon. I bought this yellow/golden pot from Shin Korea on Shopee.

2. When the water begins to boil, add noodles plus the included soup powder packet and dried vegetables. Add in mushrooms as well. Cover and let it boil for about 1 minute.

3. Then, add in dumplings (defrosted) and tofu and cook for another 1 minute or so.

4. Open the pot's lid and stir the ramyeon to check if it's cooked (but not mushy). The best ramyeon should be firm and chewy but not undercooked either. Turn off the heat.

5. Eat the noodles straight from the golden pot! You can use the lid as a "plate" too!

Korean Ramyeon with Tofu and Spring Onion

Ingredients (do adjust based on how many pax you are cooking for):

How to cook:

1. Bring water to a boil in a pot, add noodles plus the included soup powder packet and dried vegetables. Cover and let it boil for about 1 minute or so.

2. Then, add in tofu and cook for another 1 minute or so. Add in spring onions (because I don't like to eat raw spring onion), and give everything a quick stir. Turn off the heat and serve.

Simple Kimchi Ramyeon with Dumplings

Ingredients (do adjust based on how many pax you are cooking for):

How to cook:

1. Bring water to a boil in a pot, add noodles plus the included soup powder packet and dried vegetables. Add dumplings (defrosted). Cover and let it boil for about 1 minute or so.

2. Then, add in kimchi and cook for another 1 minute or until dumplings are fully cooked.

3. Turn off the heat and serve with more kimchi!

My kids love noodles too. So I cooked Japanese Udon for them using tonkotsu soup base (can buy from Glory Mart on Shopee) and with added beef slices, egg, and seaweed sprinkles.
