Smartphones are hardly below RM1000. Mostly are over RM1,500. Some are ridiculously priced at almost RM4K, e.g. Nokia E90 Communicator. N95 is almost RM3K. Nokia 6110 Navigator is not a bad choice either, under RM2K.
I spotted one affordable smartphone: HP iPAQ 512 Voice Messenger.(attached from HP website). Overview: The HP iPAQ Voice Messenger offers professionals a powerful, easy-to-use Smartphone that combines the mobility of a cell phone, the capability of a handheld organizer, contact of a push e-mail device, and the power of an office phone system (© 2007 Hewlett-Packard Development Company, L.P.). Launched this month. Below RM1K. Unbelievable? Yes, it looks small and ordinary with a numeric keypad. However, besides the usual multimedia functions, it has voice control function, built in handsfree, Windows Mobile 6.0 Standard OS, microSD card slot, GPRS/WAP/EDGE connectivity, Bluetooth, WiFi, and 1.3 megapixel camera. The best part is that its retail price is RM999! Cool!
