Ip Man 2 (2010) is a sequel to Ip Man (2008). If you've watched the first movie, you must watch its sequel. No doubt.Donnie Yen reprises his role as Ip Man, the grandmaster of Wing Chun martial arts. Watch out for Sammo Hung who plays Master Hung, the local Hung Ga master in Hong Kong during that era.
There are three main heavily choreographed martial arts scenes of which, in my humble opinion, are the highlights of Ip Man 2. Kudos to Sammo Hung who's also the action director and choreographer.
Scene #1: Face-off between Ip Man and Master Hung. It's a win-win situation. Master Hung, despite being a huge elderly fella, is surprisingly agile. As usual, Ip Man is the kind and modest kungfu master.
Scene #2: Combat between Master Hung and Twister, the arrogant boxer champion. Master Hung died due to injuries and his undying attitude of defending the dignity of Chinese martial arts. This is my favorite scene and it's also one that rips my heart out. I'm devastated. :(
Scene #3: Combat between Ip Man and Twister. In the end, modesty wins. It's all about integrity and dignity, not about winning.
I would gladly say, this is one of the must-watch movies of the year.
