"The wheel is spinning, I guess we interrupted it."
After watching The Coffin, a 2008 Thai horror-romance, starring Karen Mok and Ananda Everingham, that's the sentence that I remembered. Ananda also starred in another impressive Thai horror, Shutter. No wonder he looks so familiar.
The Coffin's cast is quite "extravagant", assembling actors and actresses from Thailand, Hong Kong, and Japan. Most dialogues are in English, so it's easy to follow the story and get into its mood. I love this film's cinematography, especially when the cameras are focusing on the genuine fear, terror, and dread expressed through the character's eyes.
The storyline is simple, the plots are arranged nicely without causing confusion, and the ending is somewhat predictable. This may not be the best horror movie that I've watched but I could say that the most rewarding part is that it makes us think. The mortals are not supposed to mess with the spiritual world. Once the boundary is trespassed, ugly things could happen.
As a Christian, I don't believe in karma and things alike because we believe in the sovereignty of God the Creator, Jesus the Savior.
