Some secrets take us to the edge.
Reasons to watch Edge of Darkness (2010):
#1: Mel Gibson
#2: Good storyline
#3: Undying love of a father for his daughter
Needless to say, Mel Gibson, one of Hollywood's most prolific actors shows us what impressive acting is as he plays veteran homicide detective Thomas Craven.
His 24-year old daughter Emma Charlotte Craven (Bojana Novakovic) is killed by a shotgun in front of his own eyes. Amidst grieving for his loss and suspicious of the motive behind the killing, Thomas starts his own investigation by following trails of Emma's personal and working life. By doing so, he stumbles upon corporate and government cover-ups, which resulted in his daughter's murder. Did he manage to bring the corrupts to justice? What are the prices that he needs to pay?
I would say that this is a rather emotional, intense, and violent movie. Although it's almost a one-man show, the rest of the characters, regardless of how minor the role is, manage to add weight to the storyline. Pacing is good, not boring, and easy to follow. If you pay close attention, certain scenes provide clues as of how a certain character will react or take action in the next scenes.
Finally, justice is served and the closure is touching. A teardrop or two might be shed. Verdict: Watch it.
