DVD Frenzy - Movie 5: Inglourious Basterds (2009)

Once upon a time in Nazi-occupied France...

A basterd's work is never done.

Ah, great! Finally, I watched Inglourious Basterds, another awesome movie from Quentin Tarantino.

You know the zest of this popular movie, right? During World War II, a group of eight Jewish-American guerilla soldiers known as the "Basterds" are chosen specifically to spread fear by scalping and brutally killing Nazis. They are Liutenant Aldo Raine (Brad Pitt), Sergeant Donny Donowitz or "The Bear Jew" (Eli Roth),
Sergeant Hugo Stiglitz (Til Schweiger), Private Smithson Utivich (B. J. Novak), Private Omar Ulmer (Omar Doom), and three more unnamed. As the "Basterds" march on in their agenda, they are aided by a German movie actress and double agent, Bridget von Hammersmark (Diane Krüger).

Soon, on one fateful evening, the "Basterds" cross paths with a French-Jewish teenage girl, Emmanuelle Mimieux who runs a cinema in Paris without realizing that she has made plans to burn down the cinema during the screening of "A Nation's Pride", of which Adolf Hitler is also attending. Emmanuelle is actually Shosanna Dreyfus (Mélanie Laurent), whose family was killed by the SS army, led by Colonel Hans Landa (Christoph Waltz) or "The Jew Hunter". That's why she seeks revenge.

This is an excellent movie. I like how it's divided into 5 chapters:
#1 Once Upon a Time in Nazi-occupied France
#2 Inglourious Basterds
#3 German Nights in Paris
#4 Operation Kino
#5 Revenge of the Giant Face

Despite being a rather long movie, about 2.5 hours and almost 80% of the dialogues are spoken in both German and French, this is a very awesome and entertaining movie.

Last note: Putting historical facts aside, watching this movie is a good way to entertain ourselves with the thoughts that the Jews are avenged in one way or another. ;)
