[Friday-5] Sushi & The Curious Case of Benjamin Button

Feeling lazy to dine heartily or heavily I guess (LOL!), after a day of being "A.S.A.P-ed" & "A.S.A.P-ing", well... the usual rock-n-roll on Fridays and the days after public holidays. Urghh... 9 Feb is a Monday and it's a public holiday, again! That's why I never like public holidays because the next working day would be this: "I want this done ASAP!" Oh well...

So, my sis & I decided to eat sushi from Jusco because they are far cheaper than Sushi Zanmai. This is called Takashima, less than RM8 per box after 20% discount. In the middle of each sushi are chunks of Japanese cucumber and crabmeat stick, followed by a layer of rice and seaweed, and topped with salmon and avocado slices. Love it!

Then, we watched The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. Seriously speaking, after Changeling, this is another must-watch movie on your list. And again, Brad Pitt is not the sole factor that drives me to watch this movie, just as I watched Changeling not because of Angelina Jolie.

Benjamin Button is a very beautiful loooong story... 166 minutes. I entered the cinema at 10:45pm and came out at 1:30am. Wow but worth it.

First of all, the beauty of the film lies at its back-to-basic theme, i.e. love. What kind of love? A mother loving her adopted son unconditionally (regardless of his appearance/health, others' "prophesy" that the child is dying, and skin color), love at first sight, first love, love affair with married man/woman, undying love despite rejections, and true love till death separated them.

Secondly, the movie also highlighted an ample amount of Christian faith in terms of healing by faith.

Thirdly, to lighten somber moods, some characters were comically portrayed in such a way that you will laugh along and feel good about it.

Fourthly, the subject matter of the-journey-of-human-life-on-earth-shall-end-with-death was so strong that you couldn't help but think of how to redeem the time that you still have now.

And of course, the onscreen chemistry between Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett was so strong that I was mesmerized. I shall elaborate no more.

The whole crew has done a very good job, really! Check out the full credits.

Those with sensitive souls shall laugh and weep along as the film rolls for 166 minutes. I'm one of them.
