My version of chili con carne

Chili con carne or more commonly known as chili is a spicy stew containing chili peppers, meat, tomatoes, and often beans. However, there are many variants with different ingredients.

My version of chili con carne contains no chili peppers and beans because I don't remember to buy them. :P But I add pearl barley instead.

Ingredients

One small carrot (diced), a few stalks of celery (sliced), a yellow onion (chopped coarsely), two tomatoes (chopped coarsely), boiled pearl barley (a handful), a small can of tomato puree (200g), 150g ground beef

Let's cook!

Heat up oil in a deep pot.
Sweat onions until fragrant.
Add ground beef.
Stir fry until beef changes color.

Add boiled barley and celery.
Stir fry for a few minutes.

Add diced carrots.

Then, add tomatoes.
Make sure all the ingredients are evenly mixed.

Add tomato puree and two cups of water.

Let it simmer for another 10-15 minutes and stir occassionally.
During the final few minutes, I stir the stew until I get the consistency I want.
No salt is added because the tomato puree contains salt.
Serve hot!
