Gardenia & Tebaloi

I'm an avid Gardenia bread lover. Whenever I go to hypermarkets or 7-11s, I love to stand in front of the bread racks and scan through the different varieties of bread loaves, especially Gardenia's. I've seen much more Gardenia choices in Singapore, of which I don't understand why those varieties can't be found in Malaysia.

Imagine how excited I was to see Delicia! RM4 per loaf.

Delicia Choco Raisin
Soft and fluffy chocolate-flavored bread with raisins. I guess this won't be a good choice for those who are health-conscious because it's quite sweet and a bit oily.

Delicia Butterscotch
Soft and fluffy buttered-flavored bread with a tinge of milky taste that reminds me of primary school breakfast. Kinda homey. Good to eat with a cup of steaming hot chocolate, coffee or tea.

Okay, this isn't bread. This is Tebaloi, a kind of local snack from Sarawak. Tebaloi is made from sago powder, egg, sugar, and coloring (tumeric, milo, pandan). Tumeric gives the Tebaloi pieces a yellowish appearance whereas with pandan, you'll get green Tebaloi. There are about 7-8 pieces of Tebaloi per packet for sale. The locals love to dip these crunchy pieces in hot kopi-o gao! :)
