Movie: Underdog Soldiers (2011)

Underdog Soldiers (2011) is an Australian movie based on a series of books written by Australian writer John Marsden, "Underdog Soldiers" (also known as "Tomorrow, When the War Began" in Australia & New Zealand).

Synopsis: Seven Australian teenage friends from a small town go on a camping trip. During the trip, they watch military fighter jets fly above them. Little did they know that their lives will soon be changed because their country is being invaded by an unexpected foreign military force. Upon returning home, they discover that they are at war. With whatever resources they could find, they come together as a team in order to save their country from being taken over entirely.

Ummm... I'm sorely disappointed because I've wasted almost 1.5 hours watching this movie, which turns out to be a teen flick. The only redeeming quality is the action scenes, especially when things get blow up. And also, I'm pretty impressed to see that the 'man' of the movie is an ass-kicking brunette who can operate petrol trucks and excavators as if they are toy cars.

Give this movie a go if you happen to like teen flicks. Urgh. With such an obvious open ending, there will be sequels soon. Let's hope the sequel or sequels will feature more of the teens kicking more asses and less jabbering and bullshitting.
