Snippets: January - March 2011

31 March marks the end of Q1. So what have I done in Q1 (January - March)?

1. Celebrated our first anniversary.

2. Celebrated our second Valentine's Day.

3. Celebrated Chinese New Year eve with the family.

4. Went for our first Kuching trip and met up with my ex-uni mates.

5. Started a mini online flea market (Facebook blogshop).

6. Gotten busy but excited, albeit a bit stressed, with interesting, never-ending work stuff. *P&C*

7. Came across a ridiculous and bizarre incident that reminded of this quote: "At a certain point in our lives, we lose control of what's happening to us and our lives become controlled by fate. That's the world's greatest lie." - Paulo Coelho

People say, "Things happen for a reason." But, this makes me wonder: "What if the reason is unreasonable?" Think about it.

8. Learned (still learning) NOT to succumb to expectations. People say, "Expectation is the root of all heartaches." I have to agree. Expectation leads to disappointment and disappointment leads to heartaches. In fact, I came up with a quote: "Misaligned expectations are the mother of all frustrations. Whenever that happens, just do some recalibration to relieve emotional constipation."

9. Came across interesting quotes. Here are some of my favorites:

"It takes two hands to clap, but only one to slap." This quote was meant to mean; it takes two to tango, but all it takes is also ONE to refuse. Thus blame should also be equal.

"Is possessiveness a lack of trust or a sign of love? Is it to control or is it to hold on to what one loves most for fear of losing it?" Perhaps this works both way.

"Some of the biggest challenges in relationships come from the fact that most people enter a relationship in order to get something. They're trying to find someone who's going to make them feel good. In reality, the only way a relationship will last is if you see your relationship as a place that you go to give, and not a place that you go to take." - Anthony Robbins

"There is no such thing as pretending to care, because if you really didn't care, you wouldn't bother pretending." - Joseph Gogler

"Happiness is when the goals of yesterday, emotions of today and the hopes for tomorrow are all the same." - Joseph Gogler

"Don't keep the past in your mind. Don't stress over the future. Because if you're too worried about what has already happened and what might happen, you can't focus on what's right in front of you. The present is what makes the future and what helps you move on from the past."

"A thousand words will not leave so deep an impression as one deed." - Henrik Ibsen

How about you? How was your Q1?
