How I spent my 31-Aug-07...

Yippee! 31-Aug-07 is a Friday! And I spent the WHOLE day at Genting Highlands. Half day at the Theme Park, and another half day barbecue-ing my heart out with my church members.

I got this map from the Genting Theme Park website. I went to almost all of the thrill rides - Pirate Ship, Spinner, Cyclone, Rolling Thunder Mine Train, and Corkscrew. The queues were long, the weather was funny - sunny and drizzling when you didn't expect it, but the quality time spent with 7 youngsters was beyond words. Four of them are of secondary school age and another three are below 12. So, I sort of became a half-day nanny to these kids while their parents, halfway down the hill were busy preparing food to feed more than 30 mouths. Dinosaurland was quite a something as we "cruised" along the "river" in a boat, powered by a don't-know-how-many-horse-power engine.

Then they all received free Jalur Gemilang while exiting the park. And you know what? They waved those little flags, sang Jalur Gemilang, Tanggal 31 all the way down the hill, while shouting "Happy Birthday, Malaysia!" to the cars and crowds when we are heading downhills in the family car drove by one of the kids' father. Being with the youngsters is always rewarding.

After spending 6 hours at the Theme Park, it was time for FOOD! The parents were superb dads and mums! You should have tried the beef-tomatoes-potatos-carrots-celery-capsicums-garlic cloves-pepper stew! My... it was heavenly... Haha... And of course there were lots of barbecued chicken wings, frankfurters, sweet potatoes, soft drinks, junk food... you name it!

And I got mild sunburn... Well... not too bad since somebody thought I was below 20 years old when I accompanied those kids around the park. Cool... Do I look that young?

Too much sun, rain & food turned out to be too much for my late twenties' physique. By 11pm, I was slightly feverish, my muscles hurt, and I just want to sleep. Haha...

So far, this has been the most memorable 31-Aug!
